Cup winners cup, which was merged with the UEFA Cup, so its the same thing for winning the FA cup
Used to only by a few teams that qualified through the league
Under the CURRENT rules, by which we are supposedly to abide by, if 2+ clubs under the same ownership have qualified for the same European competition, then whichever club finished higher in their own domestic League gets entry into said competition. That means Lyon (Europa) or Brondby (Conference), being as they both comfortably trumped Palace's normal regulation standard inadequate finish of 12th.

This isn't something that has just sprung up. Under the rules, Palace do not have a leg to stand on. They are in breach, so why talk about changing it just because of what used to be, donkeys years back ??
Other factors are in play though unfortunatey, namely that:

1: UEFA are incompetent and weak
2: Palace are snides run by a bunch of spivs and chislers, who are well accustomed to routinely cheating and worming their way around the rules

I'm 70/30 that they'll get the green light, despite quite clearly being in breach of the rules. But if UEFA actually for once impose their rules as they should, then whether we replace them or not, I will be laughing my TITS off at them for the remainder of the summer, and probably next season. It would be delicious.

Also worth considering that the last thing Europe needs right now is an invasion of their rancid gobby south London feral ratboys onto their streets. Can you imagine.

'Southwick'

Agree about incompetence of CPFC2010 - I guess a club that's only 15 years old still has a lot to learn.

Anyway, please explain to to me the term 'South London & Proud'

If you're all so 'proud' of South London, why do so many want to live in Sussex?
I moved down here when I met my now wife, not that complicated or unusual. She has always been a Sussex lass, I've slowly migrated from S London (albeit for a very short while, blame my parents for wanting to move), to Crawley, then various bits of Surrey and now here.

Fair enough, but we're going to have to build a wall - and Croydon's going to have to pay for it. ;)

Palace may yet be thrown another lifeline by the threat of further Uefa sanctions against financially stricken Lyon. The French club are under a settlement agreement that involves heavy financial penalties and transfer controls. If they are deemed to have breached it, they could be ejected from the Europa League.

Apologies if fixtures but “a decision is expected in the next 10 days” https://www.theguardian.com/football/2025/jun/04/john-textor-crystal-palace-lyons-uefa-european-ban
The article was basically saying Textor is now looking to sell his 43% stake in Palace as a means of ensuring they get to compete in Europe. If so, it is a drastic act. If there was any possibility of Palace getting off on a technicality then surely they would be pursuing that route. This development makes it seem they have no other options.

I cannot see Textor would get anywhere near market value for his shares, with every prospective buyer seeing the bind the club is in, with potentially just a little over a week to do a deal.

And given the article refers to his other club Lyon potentially getting thrown out of Europe then he needs to maximise his return on Palace shares to be able to put Lyon on a more stable footing.

Therefore, the right thing would be for one or more of the other Palace shareholders to offer market rate for Textor's shares. In theory, new owners would need to pass the Premier League's 'fit and proper' tests and that would take time, whereas Blitzer, Harris and Parish would already have passed those tests.

Potentially, Textor could loan them the money to buy his shares - his net worth is $3.4 billion after all, but then it would be a case of whether the other shareholders wanted to increase their stake, or whether they want to cash in their chips. I could see that with Palace in Europe, having some very decent players to sell yet a crumbling ground now would be a very good time to sell.

Brilliant string it out for as long as possible to keep those lot from sleeping. Ties this down to be decided before the PL fixtures are announced as well, which I guess is where that timing comes from.
I think the decision is more about when the Europa League/Conference League draws are done, first of which is 17th June.

Why would Textor sell cheap, I'd sit tight and wait for a decent offer? Its not like their value will be inflated in any way by a few games in the Europa league. The only thing that really matters is PL status to an investor.

If I was an investor I'd rather they were playing in Europe at all next season, a pony club with a thin squad they are at less risk of relegation. Who knows they might even move into unchartered top half territory

@Bozza , can we have a countdown clock until P-Day (Palace Day) ? The last leg did one for President Trump.

Anyone on here got any French conections that may get us into the UEL if Lyon get kicked out?

All that aside, he should have acted before 1st March. The deadline, that's DEAD LINE has passed. The line is dead. He missed it. Chuck 'em out!
