[Football] If Palace can't play in the Europa League

It wasn’t against 9 men though was it. We had a 2 man advantage for about 6 mins of the game and that came in injury time. A vast majority of the game was played 11 vs 11.

we had at least a 1 man advantage for over 25 minutes playing time.
2 man advantage for 6 of those.

We managed 5 shots on target in the entire match and an xg of 0.94.

But the fact we managed to get a man sent off, when playing against 9, tells another story.

The thread has gone a little of topic, so getting back on track, is there any news regarding what UEFA are going to do regarding Palace playing in the Europa league?
The rules seem to be that they cant currently due to the ownership issue, so at some point fairly soon decisions need to be made

To go back to the original point of this thread, my understanding (and I am happy to be corrected) is that Textor does not own a majority share in Palace, but a 25% share alongside Harris Blitzer and Parish. Parish is the chairman and has the final say in everything at the moment, so I dont think this is against UEFA rules

If I may also comment on another anomaly, when the two squads were being compared, Tyrick Mitchell doe have at least 1 England cap, as I was at Wembley to see it

In my opinion, we have gained more point in the league than last year, and won the FA Cup, and reached the quarter final of the league cup. I would have taken that at the start of the season.

In the Cup, we can only beat what is in front of us, and I would argue that Stockport, Doncaster and Millwall all did relatively well in their respective leagues, so would have been playing with confidence. We beat Fulham and Villa comfortably, and then did a job on Man City in the final. Its a bit harsh to say we cheated our way to victory. VAR made the decision that it was not denial of a clear and obvious goal scoring opportunity, and Haaland was going away from goal, with 2 defenders covering back. Plus the penalty was wrong as Mitchell played the ball (you can see it change direction), and the ref could and should have booked more of the City team than he did, which enabled them to get away with the rotational fouling every time we got the ball in the 2nd half.

We did win both games against Brighton, with some ease I would suggest, even when down to 9 men, but did finish 8 points behind. However, I would have taken these outcomes at the start of the season, and I suspect the same if roles and positions etc were reversed

Whether our Europa league adventure will be as successful as yours, who knows. We probably wont get such a glamorous draw, and it may put extra stress on the squad, but right now, I'm definitely "Glad All Over"

I’d say the fact we were throwing everyone forward trying to get that equaliser and JPVH took one for the team explains the red card quite easily. People would have been moaning we were too cautious against 9 men if we’d done anything else. Leaving one man back is always a risk but when you’ve got a two man advantage, in injury time and need a goal you take those risks.

UEFA haven't commented, they won't even look into it until after the UCL Final.

Palace remain confident that although textor owns 45% of the shares, his 25% controlling interest puts them below the threshold.
I believe a DULLARD thinks they are probably right to think that.

JPVH wasn't carded because we had everyone forward.
He was carded because of a shit pass, between two defenders, in their own half.

Haaland was not going away from goal. He was going directly towards goal. He went away from goal because the keeper handled the ball outside the area which is why everyone said the VAR messed up and it had to be a red card.

The debate about teams is who had a better starting eleven. How on earth could a team have a better starting eleven if they finish 8 points behind the other team when one played the preferred starting eleven or at least ten of them in virtually every match while the other didn’t get that side out once!

I am not for one second saying I would not have rather had a trophy but then of roles were reversed I would not be claiming we had better side.

Re the cup draw and Stockport being in form. My mates played them in the second round. My mates are design engineer at JLR, a teacher at a local college, labourers etc. Stockport were absolutely rattled. We scored a goal that after the game the Stockport players said should not have been disallowed and we missed a sitter (both at 2-1). They scored a late goal on the break as we pushed forward. Let’s not pretend Stockport are good! They were pretty fortunate to hold old vs a team from second tier non league who were missing two key players!

They had a superb cup run. The league season was far from superb. That is all I am saying. Their fans were boooooooo in the autumn! At least my palace supporting mates have all said “they are not bothered they got a lucky draw and lucky win. They have a trophy we don’t so who cares we are better than them?”

Which is a perfectly acceptable position to take and one I would take if I was them.

I don't recall any autumn boos. The fans have been totally behind Glasner since day one. I think we all knew why we weren't getting results at the start of the season & we knew that the manager wasn't to blame for it.

They won their first major trophy. That alone, I guess makes it a superb season.

In the same way, Spurs won their first trophjy in nearly 20 years and qualified for the Champions League. Again, in that regard, it was a superb season.

But I humbly suggest that when taking a more holistic view of Palace's season, it can't really be described as "superb".

They finished in their near-customary 12th place in the Premier League. The 9th time in 10 seasons they have been bottom half.

They had a two-season and c£300m head start on us, but we've soon overtaken them, finishing higher in the Premier League than they ever have.

You could even make the case that they've been overtaken by the likes of Brentford, Bournemouth and Fulham now too.

Finally, despite all that, we've not spent more than them. We've spent less. They're well ahead of us in the five-year net spend table:
