Palace supporters are currently visiting the same pit of horror we all fell into when we realised we wouldn’t be playing in Europe and our rivals would.

It’s absolutely delicious.

They may well worm their way out of this, but it’s wonderful to know their board’s incompetence has soured the moment for the supporters, even if only for a short while.

Having failed to qualify for Europe, my mindset is we have a season to really focus on next season domestically with no distractions. Palace got their trophy last season, and we could focus on getting ours next season or whenever. They got even more bragging rights over us by ostensibly being the team that kept us out of Europe. Nothing we could do but suck it up.

All the well run clubs use blind trusts before 1st March if there is a possibility of Europe and ownership issues. Palace did not. Make of that what you will.

Having rejected a blind trust solution outside of the deadline, UEFA may well roll over and give Palace a different solution. But until then, this sorry saga must surely be giving the handful of their fans with the intellect to understand the issue, many sleepless nights.

My brother in law is an arms length Palace fan who lives near Manchester, but once went to a Palace game when he lived in Reigate and, knowing we are Brighton fans, wears a Palace pin badge on his jacket when he sees us. I suspect he is blissfully incapable of grasping that they just might not receive their invitation to participate.

I imagine Brighton fans aren't raising hopes at this stage of Brighton stepping in to play in Europe, but I'm loving the fact that it's beginning to dawn on some of the Holmesdale faithful that their directors may have messed up the European tour of their dreams. I'm currently rehearsing 'In Europe and you f***ed it up' for their next visit, just in case. :ROFLMAO:

I’m not puzzled about the length of time to get a decision - (they only qualified against most expectations a few weeks ago - so I suppose a blink of an eye in UEFA time zone - it’s not like they’ve been in the top 6/7 for months.)

Like the City case, can’t see much happening before the 17th June qualifying draws so both Clubs may avoid sanctions in time for next season.

But - I am puzzled why Palace fans continue to think the rules on multi-club ownership apply to everyone except themselves?

They can’t be that thick in Croydon, Shirly?

Yes, yes they can.

Palace fans seem to have a very tenuous grasp of reality.

Snapshots from the BBS attached. Is there any reason to believe the stuff about Bloom? Only adding fuel to the rivalry either way.

As funny (and unlikely) it would be if they were kicked out, I would also have a small sense of disappointment. Not for them, but as much as they have a decent starting 11, their squad is paper thin. I was looking forward to a long, miserable season for them with the Thursday/Sunday thing, extra games and injuries. I genuinely think with Europe, they will really struggle in the Premier League.

As their fans keep saying, Glasner always starts the season slowly and then comes on strong. Well if they start slowly and then Europe kicks in, they could be in a lot of trouble. If we hadn't made that strong start in 2023/2024, we would have been really struggling.

Me too, I rarely bet on football but I was considering a flutter on them going down due to European distraction.

We all know they’re going to get away with it somehow and end up playing in Europe. The thing that baffles me is how it got to this point before doing something about it. If we go back to the end of the 23/24 season they were all over the place telling anyone who would listen that they were qualifying for European competition and a good bet for Champions League. Surely they would of prepared for this by addressing all the entry requirements then.

I think there's a real chance. Leeds have some money behind them and I fancy them to stay up. If we accept Burnley and Sunderland will go down, who will join them? There is no obvious side.

The trend of NSCers posting without reading previous posts is definitely getting worse, isn’t it? Many folk aren’t even skimming messsges from a few hours before.

This could be fixed with tech, actually.

In a busy thread, the latest post (which everyone jumps to) could have a highlighted along the lines of:

"This thread is trending, with XX new posts in 12hr / xx posts in 24hr! Skip back 6, 12 or 24hrs and have a browse."

(More engagement; less repetition)

And/or... when a user goes to post a link, the forum software should detect if the URL has already been posted and notify the user. "Respond to this existing message instead?"

This is why we, as Brighton fans, can't lose in this situation.

I'm really torn on this as I think we'll feel the benefit of a season where we can focus on the league/cups. Hurzler did a fantastic job but we had an ugly injury list, I think we could look forward to strong season if we are more fortunate with injuries. I can't see us finishing top 10 with European football.

I think Palace confirming their Europa place at the 11th hour, struggling in the league with a long injury list and finishing near the bottom in the europa league would be my favoured outcome. We'd also know they never really deserved their place due to breaking the rules. *OR* neither of us make Europe, glasner goes to Tottenham and they see an exodus of their best players.
