Brighton would be one of the favourites to win the Conference League. That would be hilarious if it happened without being originally qualified.
It happened before when Greece won the Euros in 2004.

Greece qualified for Euro 2004 winning their qualifying group ahead of Spain.

In 1992 Denmark won the Euros having replaced Yugoslavia after they were disqualified following the breakup of the country and the ongoing war there. Denmark only found out they’d be taking part about 10 days before the tournament and many players had to return from holidays to take part.

Surely if this does come to pass then it leaves Beaky in an almost untenable position. Even his chums in black won’t be happy with him as they won’t be able to show of their art work to more of Europe.

I’d go so far as to say he’d surely have to step down as chairman but they might get someone competent in to replace him, so I fully support him carrying on regardless.

Sounds like they missed the boat on that;
Killer line in article is the one about 300 clubs in European competitions and consistency of rules have to be applied
Making an example of a small club definitely seems to be the solution

Less fall out and no limitless funds to challenge UEFA in court.

Can’t understand why this should go the way of palace.

A billionaire doesn’t buy shares in palace and also wolves for obvious reasons.
A billionaire doesn’t buy shares in palace and Middlesbrough due to future issues
If a billionaire buys shares in palace and a club in a different country they will know the implications should both teams end up in the same competition.

They know the rules. They had a deadline. They did nothing.

End of.

This is UEFA we're talking about... I'd obviously love it if they made an example out of palace, but of course they'll spawn their way out of it and be cleared to play - it's the palace way

This is almost surreal, at first I thought idle paper talk, slow news day etc, but as the days pass, it becomes more plausible that we could be back in Europe because our biggest rivals didn’t understand the rules 🤷‍♂️

But this could be bigger for them than just missing out on a few blue riband away trips, if they can’t give Glassner European football but what if a Mr Levy from North London then offers him a chance to manage in the Champions League?

If Carlsberg did close seasons…..😂

(The ironic thing is I actually didn’t want us to get Europe in the end, and rather let Fab build and develop the squad)
