Round the back, by the bins.
Dont know why....its not my problem BUT it really pisses me off when I see a driver with a sat nav slap bang in the middle of the screen just below the mirror..

Even worse .....when its in the middle and on BRIGHT daytime colours at night......its like a bloody headlight!!!

Thats it

When I took my car for it's MOT I was told to remove the little smelly xmas tree thing that was hanging from the rearview mirror or it would fail the test so surely the sat-nav is illegal. Common sense really.

Why does anybody need a SatNav? (apart from maybe the last mile or two of a journey)

And why would anyone leave it on whilst driving along a motorway?

1. you have answered your own question
2. refer to answer 1. if I need it for the last few miles then it is easier to program before setting off and getting traffic updates.

Incredibly I do not know every street in my own city let alone everywhere.
just because it is on you dont need to stare at it. does your speed/tacho/fuel guage work all the time and do you stare at them for the whole journey ?

I think a lot of people dont realise that some satnavs give live traffic updates ( my tomtom cost £43 per year and its in valuable)
A £2.99 road atlas dont do that

I was quite impressed with my iphone's sat nav the other day.. was down in south wales trying to get back from Newport to Tredegar in the middle of the night, worked a treat.

Anyway the worst I've seen was following someone on my motorbike & realised that they had an iPAD stuck to the middle of their windscreen being used as a sat nav

I bet the majority of you mongs that are all proclaiming to use a map or AA route planner, do in fact have a sat-nav plastered in the centre of your windshield. A bit like all the people on here that don't watch X-Factor or Big Brother (ok so nobody watches it these days). Yeah whatever..............

If you do a lot of driving, especially early mornings, leaving the Sat Nav on whilst driving along a motorway is something i do. If i don't there is a chance i will miss my exit. Just a reminder. Many times i have shot past the exit.

This! I also like to know how long is left of a journey etc. sat navs are brilliant! Much easier than maps/AA route planner.

They make traveling to an unfamiliar destination so pleasurable and not stressful trying to remember what you read before you set off, what junction you needed, what roads to take once off the motorway and then if you make a wrong turning without a sat nav you're f***ed as then you have to stop to be safe whilst you read the map and then try to remember new directions as well as old ones! Stressful!

I position my sat nav in the lower centre of my windscreen and always use daytime colours as night colours are shit! How a sat nav facing towards the driver could be a hazard for others is beyond me! I don't have my sat nav facing out the window at other drivers.

Because I personally find the red line of the day colours easy to see when I'm driving. It's just what I prefer and I've never crashed or caused a crash ever even whilst using my sat nav. I've never checked though if I could reduce the brightness of it.. So have day time colours but just not full screen brightness like you can do with phones.

Well yes anyone that sticks it in the middle or high up is a bit weird.

Do you just have maps though... you can but the Sat Nav hardware for a one-off fee, but people that do a lot of miles can pay an annual subscription that has all the trimmings; maps, live traffic updates, sometimes free map updates etc.

Does yours tell you that an accident has happened 10 mins ago 1 mile up the road and it will take 30 mins to get passed it? and give you an alternative route to take?

I've never used traffic updates so that explains it!

The drivers always look as if they've been hypnotised by the thing. I hope the voice is that of Kaa from The Jungle Book and when they plough into the car in front of them that they hadn't noticed was there it says:
"You've jusssst made a sssseriouss missstake"
