[Albion] How do you assess Ben White, so far?

I am no expert on Brighton, and (as this board well knows) a dullard and an idiot.

Could you tell me how many times you have played City since you got promoted, and how many points you have taken from them?

As for you finishing above Leeds, sure you can talk the talk but can you walk the walk? Let's reconvene on NSC at the end of the season and see how your prediction fared.

Is that a date?

There is currently a smugness and an arrogance on the part of Leeds fans of which this is merely conforming to type. I have a mate who is a Leeds "fan". He comes from London and he started supporting them in the Revie days because they were having some success but has been sucking lemons ever since....until now of course and he has suddenly become extremely punchable. They have automatically assumed that their club should be accorded Billy Big Bollocks status because they've got a bullying Argentinian manager who has got a load of kids hyper fit and running around like Duracell bunnies and have caught a fewPL teams cold, in fairness including Liverpool and Man City. They will a) get sussed out (and there is no Plan B with Bielsa) and b) run out of steam, both by or shortly after Christmas. Bielsa will not renew his contract at the end of the season as his team end up mid to lower table preferring to go back and live on his Argy ranch on the Pampas instead of above the village post office in Wetherby surrounded by neanderthals. And who can blame him. Leeds have spent all the Premiership family silver in buying players to play Bielsabull, will not be able to play under the new manager, the Italians will withdraw to the shadows and the club will go bust within the next 24 months. Sad really.

So? Norwich beat City early doors last season. Remind me how that ended for them?

Been a while since I’ve looked at this forum. Surprised to see the Ben white hate so soon. I didn’t watched the Everton highlights so can’t comment on any mistakes, but from the bits I have seen white is wasted on the right of a back 3. His strengths are stepping out with the ball etc & on the right of a back 3 all over seen him do on the ball is play simple passes along the back, simple pass out to the right wing back or a long pass forward. Leeds’ system suited him perfectly & allowed him to show what he was all about. Brighton’s doesn’t

Most people think he is doing well, there is just a few people who for various reasons (lack of a new striker, not being Duffy, generally negative towards new players, too quick to judge etc. etc.) would prefer if he is shit.

As for how the Brighton style of playing you are wrong. Obviously he cant wander with the ball as often as he could in the Championship, and that would be the same case in Leeds, but when possible both him and Webster carry the ball into the opposing half.

Nobody agrees with the title of the thread or you. Cheers and good luck.

Shame about the stupid title of this thread. Ben is doing well and fits perfectly with our system. His strength is actually reading the play and he has ample opportunity to step out of defence as do Dunk and Webster. We are fine, don’t worry.

Contrary to other replies I think this is an interesting viewpoint and it's true that some players can really blossom in one team and formation and look pretty anonymous in others. I'm very much looking forward to seeing how White plays under Potter.

Well of course with Leeds in the Championship he was with a team that was naturally dominating play and the opposition forwards were less talented. Hence his forward moving skills were very much appreciated. Jump up a division and he is under more pressure (at least with Brighton) and we probably need far more defensively from him than was needed at Leeds. He has a new challenge for sure. More solid defensive play please (as would be the need for any PL team he would play for).

Dwayne created this thread to let the Leeds lurking bellends have their porn and cause some sort of controversy. Thankfully you’ll see the vast, vast majority are pleased with how he’s started and delighted we kept the lad here to continue his development. Just glad Ben was happy to stay and took the #3 shirt.

This is his first season in the prem, he’ll make mistakes (no glaring ones I can think of so far) but is already confidently showing his reading of the game and passing ability. Worth far more than Leeds were prepared to pay, not that he’d have gone there in a million years.

You’re obviously not watching be my well. Back 3 suits him to the ground - especially with much better centre halves than he’s used to along side him. There’s no Ben White hate - the OP is on a wind up and 99% are delighted with our gem we brought through our system thanks.

7 points off them in the prem in 6 games...

And beat them in the cup.

Leeds have spent silly money they prob don’t have (again) so the latest franchise of Leeds will prob do what the last one did and cheat / go bust again.

Can’t we do the decent thing and rename this dumb thread?

It’s grossly unfair on a very talented young player who is still learning his trade in elite football. Let’s back the lad, it’s fantastic for our club to have exciting talent like this.

If what the Leeds fans are saying is true, and that Ben White is half the player he was at Elland Road now that he's no longer being coached by the towering genius that is Bielsa, then perhaps they should be worried that all their current squad will also turn back into pumpkins when Bielsa leaves for a bigger club.

Oh, silly me - I forgot that there are no bigger clubs.

Bielsa may not stay at Leeds beyond this season, in fact I would say that is more than likely. That is how he is, he never stays anywhere long. He gets bored, frustrated. He seeks pastures new.

But we won't be angry or bitter about it. He has transformed the club and we will be forever grateful for the legacy. He is one of a kind. Totally unique. And he won't go to to a "bigger club" if he goes anywhere else at all. He will go to a club (big or small) that speaks to him, that gets him, (somewhere in the world) and good luck to them and to him.

We love Bielsa and Bielsa loves Leeds. It isn't like a normal club and manager relationship, but a love affair. You will laugh, you will sneer. But then how could you understand at all? Who could love Graham Potter? It is laughable.

Oh please just go away. The only person sneering is you. We honestly don't want to hear from you.

Yawn.

Oh Willie. Bielsa hasn’t won anything either. At least GP is at the start of his career.

Still hunkering for a bit of Ben White?
