[Albion] How could we get Odsonne Édouard?

Well, looks like I'm partly right so far...come on Tony. ;)

Think of there was an Edouard deal to be done - or even if we were seriously interested and had a chance, Duffy would have gone permanently. Shame as he was my no1 choice of the strikers we’ve been linked with so far.

Perhaps Duffy didn't want a permanent deal, a seasons loan, playing for his boyhood club and he can always say he's played for them. Still be young enough and good enough for the Premier League in a years time i would have thought. He will know he's better than that standard, if it had been any other team up there i doubt he would have even considered it.

Could be a loan to buy? I read somewhere (probably Twitter so likely b******s), that Edouard’s advisers have already told us he’s not interested in coming here?

I think Celtic will try and keep Edouard for this season as its the possible historic 10 in a row season for them.
He will definitely be off the season after.

I think I read were paying £20k toward Duffys wages. Rules out any perm or swap deal!

Henrik Larsson wasn't bad for this tin pot league. He only later went to Barcelona, won a European cup and had a successful loan spell at Man Utd near the end of his career.

That was 16 years ago though, when Celtic and Rangers would have held their own (and more) against any Premier League side. The league has really gone down hill since, much of which would've been caused by Rangers' demotion to the 4th tier back in 2012.

Jon Obika scores goals in the SPL these days!

Well he's right it is a step down in the sense that they're challenging for, and probably winning, the league title each season & we're not. But in terms of quality on the pitch i'd say there's not much between us.

I mean he's going the Nunez route isn't he?

Next move is, I imagine, supposed to be big money and top 6.

Although I thought Celtic were working on something with him for one more year to help with their "10 in a row"?
If I was a Celtic fan I'd be gutted to see him go, particularly right now.

Yep, this one looks consigned to the dustbin, but if Celtic are after £40 million (and I'm mindful this is due in part to a horror sell-on clause they have to honour) then they're taking the piss.

They sold Mousa Dembele to Lyon for £20 mill just 2 years ago, and we have Covid now, so how do they justify double that fee?

Surely it's £30 mill tops?
