That surely depends on whether he had any sort of relationship with Chartwell and/or whether he benefited from the sale in the long run.

True. There is no evidence he did though, it was pure speculation on our part that Chartwell did so well out of the deal.

Are you for real?!?! Why would you go and 'whack the fucker Bellotti'?! He's just the puppet they put up to take the abuse.

I personally don't think we need to grow up. Yes, we've moved on, but at a much slower rate thanks to our friends Archer and Stanley. Those trips to Gillingham and sitting in a sodden South Stand at Withdean have come directly from their sale of the Goldstone and mismanagement (for want of a better word) of the Club. The limitations the Club has had in the last 12 years can be attributed to both of the men who tried to stall talks with Knight and kill the Club for good. So yeah, I still have a 'grudge'.

Never forget.

:albion2:
Im well aware of what these numptys did???just can't understand why so many get stressed about something that happened 11 years or so ago. They battled to kill our club and failed so we won that battle.

Of course many on here will never let it go,but there is plenty who move on a lot faster.:drink:

If people want to moan and cry for years then so be it,but it won't make a blind bit of diffrence:glare:

Don't just look at the Albion's accounts. Look the profit made by selling on the Goldstone Ground.

The profit was £7.8million, the bank was owed close to £7million.

If there is evidence that Archer had a relationship with Chartwell, then it could be said he was in breach of his fiduciary duty as a director to sell the Goldstone at an undervalue and get a kickback from them.

If that is the case I hope he has a long and painful death.

Quite. You've moved on so much, you don't even support the Albion. :tosser:

Yes, I'll continue to moan and cry long after we are playing Champions League football at Falmer. That resentment and experience of what happened in the past should stand us in good stead when the next Archer and Stanley roll up with plans to buy the Club.

Unless I read the accounts incorrectly, I thought that Archer lost money in respect of the Albion, as he agreed to write off a £700,000 loan he made to the club when he severed the relationship.

In actual fact, this was not some saintly guilt ridden gesture. He was advised to do this in advance of floating FOCUS DIY. Severing the final tie in his acrimonious relationship with BHAFC was deemed a very sensible move ( the resulting loss negligible compared to the expected returns from floating the company) in order to reduce the likelihood of negative press associated with the flotation. Let's face it, it's likely that Albion fans would have used all sorts of means to ensure people were aware of this mans history, with the intention of making life a little uncomfortable for him at a point he would have wanted to appear squeaky clean.

I have commented! But you only have a limited space to use.

Is there any way of seeing any follow-up comments at all? I couldn't see a link anywhere. All I got was a message to say mine might not be published due to the volume received.

I dont necessarily think that the financial mismanagement of the club can be totally laid at the door of Archer/Stanley.....remember the Bedson days...remember Barry LLoyd having to sell all the players as we were broke, remember Beeney being sold the day the Inland Revenue were going to wind us up?

The sad fact about Brighton and hove albion is that we always live beyond our means......falmer will not be anything different that we have not seen. our only sucessful time came when a sugar daddy type bankrolled the club and when he left, we went into freefall.

all this 'never forget' stuff - but recently /hasdoes anybody ever do anything to tell him that they think he's a ****. Avoiding his businesses does f. all as far as he is concerned. If you really are that hung up on it then the only thing to do is act. If you have done nothing then deep down i do not think you truly harbour that much resentment. In fact you may well have gotten over it.

BTW, before i get slated, I have.

I thought that Chartwell sold on the site for 25 million shortly after, which is where Archer's alledged profiteering became suspicious.

I could be wrong though.

Yup, Chartwell made a huge profit within 12 months. The allegation is that Archer then got a kickback from them.

It would have made far more sense for him to have sold the ground for £25 million and paid himself a huge dividend though, as that way he would have kept all the profit.

Questions should be asked about who the club were using as their advisors when agreeing a price with Chartwell, and why were they so f***ing incompetent......

Surely the transparency that should have arisen with the reinstatement of the 'No profit' clause would've made it difficult for Archer to skim off money from a increased deal?

Far better to do it on the quiet. Allegedly.

The bloke is and will always be a C*NT for what him and the rest tried to do ( I don't like using that word, but he deserves it).

My hope is that he lives long enough to watch us walk out at Falmer, just so the full extent of his failure can sink in, then I shall wish him the most painful death imaginable. :)

I find myself wondering what, if anything, he has his cash in these days.

I'd like to think it was entirely invested in Icelandic banks, Woolworths, Zavvi and Lehmann Brothers, but I fear this is a bit of wishful thinking :(

How old is Mr Archer these days?

If only he was famous enough, he'd be one of my Celebrity Death List options (Swayze's looking good at the moment).
