Can Pep Guardiola speak English well?

Why on earth would he want the poisoned chalice that is manager of England? The one he has is about oooohhh 100 times more rewarding than managing mostly thick not very talented English players.

Agree Rednap has achieved next to nothing yet everybody is wanking themselves off over him.

Would rather have somebody proven.

Let's get Sven back.

a decent "club" manager will not necessarily succeed at international level, what did the previous brazilian world cup winning managers win domestically or the french manager?

capello's cv at club level is second to none, but he spent day in day out with those squads to get it right, that just don't happen at international level

that's why clive woodward was so successful with the rugby team, country came before club, with the ridiculous amount of money in the game now, that will never happen

Personally id like to see redknapp in the england job becaue it would be interesting to see what the press do with their favourite pal.

Id love to see how they deal with the conflict between wanting to help out their mate harry and wanting to engage in their main pastime of trying to get the england manager sacked.

 very true

But he would be better than Pearce.

Be interesting to see how he gets on. Can he turn Smalling, Welbeck, Milner, Baines, Parker into world beaters?

WHY oh Why does everyone keep banging on about Rednap is the only man for England.
Because when our team under-performs, the press say we lack passion because we don't have an English manager. If you did a poll here I'd reckon that most people would prefer an English manager. I just want the best manager, couldn't care where from.

The press will have a field day with Redknapp into his tenure with England when things are not going well
He can kiss goodbye to his brown hair then
Pearce was slagged off the other night by not being expressive enough when England scored

I don't want Harry can't think of anyone worse, but i reckon with Parker being made captain against Holland it seems the writing is on the wall, i think the FA will pander to harry every whim as his past chairman have.......... weak f*ckers.

Rednob will win us f*** all wrong choice,by the time he has built a decent international squad he will be 70 he is too old we need a young manager, Pearce is the man and ignore the red tops, they forced Bobby out god bless him.Can no one else realy see that we need a young long term manager harry is 65, 1 tournament is all he has and then he will be dead ffs

The most curious thing..
The media will be straight on the back of whoever gets the job after the first poor result - Rednapp will go from favorite to has-been within milli-seconds - as has every one else from Ramsey to Revie to Robson, Taylor, Hoddle, Keegan, Ericsson, Cappello etc. The same will be for whoever gets the job. Which begs the question, why on earth does anyone actullu want it (other than the huge salary) ?

The same anti-reaction happens every time. We appoint the next "saviour" who fails to deliver (whatever he is meant to deliver), and is vilified as a result. Which is why I haven't care about England games since the 1970 quarter final (we lost).

Ramsey, & Robson (not retrospect ... I rated him at the time, despite Euro88) were class, as well as Venables.

Ericsson was shocking, because he had a bloody good squad, and just titted about with money & ladies!!!
McLaren .... a terrible appointment, based on he'd working in the set up & Boro beat little Bolton in the league cup final.

Lessons to be learned from all this .... No Pearce (he's just another McLaren), and probably appoint Redknapp.

Can't say I feel strongly about an English manager, but do feel that a command of the English language before he starts should be a basic requirement. This is what f***ed me off about Cappello, who had the front to trouser his £6m a year and could barely be arsed to learn the lingo.
I agree. I've got no objections to another foreigner, but it would have to be someone like Wenger or Mourinho, i.e. someone who knows England, English football and English culture but hasn't had the misfortune of being brought up here. And as has been pointed out those two at least speak better English than loads of the natives. Capello was just TOO foreign, even for me.

I think with Redknapp we may have to lance the boil and appoint him. Otherwise for the next umpteen years we'll be subject to the same media bollocks as we were about Brian Clough: "Best manager we never had, if only the FA had appointed him we'd have won everything from the World Cup to the Eurovision song contest."

Harry Redknapp is the only man for the job. There is no other viable candidate. You don't need a massive trophy cabinet to be England manager.
