Bozza. Is there any reason not to create a 'donate' functionality right now? I don't see these as necessarily either/or options. Other won't offend anyone and will create a revenue stream that might be the basis for some future projections?

Only that there is money in the pot to keep things going for a while and I want to concentrate on trying to get Google ads back on board. Once I've done that, or failed to do that, then I'll look at other avenues.

I'd like to avoid going cap in hand to users, although I appreciate there are some who are happy to chip in, and I'm grateful to them for that.

Indeed, if we ask can we be given bank account details so that we can set up & control a monthly standing order. Completely optional & if plugged every now & then (& prize draw?)
I'd be happy to do £2 a month to NSC, some can do less, others more (many nothing but thats ok) but as we've seen with the ST dd's this method has strong momentum once set up

I'm willing to stick some of my 'personal collection' on eBay to raise funds, including (but not restricted to) Brighton Backdoor Bukkake Bitches, Southwick Sarah's Sloppy Sevenths, Hove Helmetcleaning Honey's, and (this is for a specialist market) Guppy's Ladyboy Shame

Um .... Isn't it that type of language that got the Google ads pulled in the first place?

I'd bung in a small amount per year if it happened to come to the immovable route of non-adsensed NSC, but i wouldn't some special rights granted me for doing so. There's enough of an unseen hierarchy on here without one being clearly labelled on each member's monetary contribution. Would just be happy to help a tad if it came to it.

Understood. Not sure most of us would see it as cap in hand but I understand why you want to get adsense back up and running. Anything I can do to help please ask.

Charge people by post ,as it might limit some of the drivel on here. :jester:

I think local advertising is the way to go. If you remove the amount of members it will get boring. I also hate being dictating to by google too, but obviously other companies may have similar wishes.

I would happily make a donation although I dont think that is a solution as, if Google is lost, it almost certainly wouldn't be enough to run the site consistantly without being supplemented by alternative advertising which in turn ought to be enough to run the site anyway. The problem then becomes one of has Bozza got yet more time available to spend on admin? That particular well has to run dry sometime!

On a personal level I would happily pay a subscription but I think that would be the death knell for the eclectic NSC we know and love. However, on one level at least, I would kind of like to see it just to find out how many palace people were prepared to pay to be on here

How about setting up a donations system anyway whatever other plans you may have Bozza, you might be surprised at the level of donations and you could have a cheesy blue peter style totaliser somewhere prominent on the site so we could see just how much money was being raised, simple but effective. Also alongside the totaliser usernames of the biggest donors for some good old fashioned ego boosting for those good eggs that had donated decent sums?

Agree with this.
No downside to letting peeps put a few quid in if the NSC charity hat and see how much it brings in. Think you might be very suprised Bozza.

Good. I hate the way Google have so much power with no accountability - but the cleanup they insisted on has lead to NSC being much improved by excluding the more unpleasant misogyny & bigotry.

Why not send all NSCers a "Nigerian" email stating that a distant relative has died and if you submit your bank details an inheritance is assured ?

Bozza - stick a 'donate' feature on asap. There are clearly people who would like to help with the costs (for now and/or the future) and it will create a buffer should any of the other plans not come to fruition. Keep the donation information (amounts, who it's from, etc) private though - there's enough willy-waving on here as it is.

If you get the ads back the donated money could go to the REMF or other NSC charity donation.

Absolutely this.

If people want to donate to NSC it should be a private thing between them and Bozza. Beyond ego stroking there is surely no need for the world and his wife to know wh has given what.

I think subscription wold be a nightmare to administrate for the already busy moderators.

We see loads of bucket collections / appeals on match days, surely the club would allow NSC to have a fund raising day, may have to set up as a Registered Charity with any profits going to REMF.

If local comapnies are to happy to donate maybe a directory of local recommended business, the site regularly sees "anyone know a good plumber", ect.

If not organise a Curry Night they always seems popular........

Good idea, this.

I would have thought getting Google back, although you might manage it for a few months as before, is in the long term impossible.
As I understand it, no one on the user end knows exactly or even roughly the words that the police-bot is watching for. Over the last few years the modding and self policing has in my view reduced the language too about half what it was, say four years ago. So Google has already had a big influence on this site. The semi naked ladies have all but disappeared completely. ( Boo ) None of this, it appears is good enough for Google, and in exactly the same way as standing in stadiums is going, it is an attempt by a business to control the behavior of it's customers, not trusting them to do it themselves! To mold one set of people into the model that another group see as the right way, from their point of view.
Don't be having it, power to the people. To the barricades.
