In the 70's the police used to check what boots or shoes you were wearing and if they didn't like the look of them you had to take the laces out and give them to OB before they let you into the ground. Dr Marten long boots or safety shoes with steel toecaps were top of the list.

Remember it well.

My mate who comes to watch the Albion always where's army style steel toe caps and has never been refused entry home or away.

He is up watching Villa today but he has been there many times without conflict.

Right here, right now
Just to clarify for those that are unsure - you aren't allowed to take cans, knives, baseball bats, explosives or Forfars Cornish Pasties into the ground as they can all do serious damage to other people.;)

Do you sit in F block? If so I saw the little twat who did it.

No, usually Block D, but Block C on saturday. It was as I was walking to get half time refreshment. Copious amounts of beer might have made the second half a bit more exciting.

Just by the entrance to Block V (The ex-internet stand). It appears we have more than one chip thrower and the stewards are doing nothing about it!:D

as i was going into the stadium today, the stewards asked to check my bag and wouldn't let me take fanta cans into the ground. so they said come back at the end of the match and pick them up they'll definately be here. at the end of the match i end back and surprise surprise....THEY'RE GONE

absolute disgrace, basically stole my drinks for me and my brother and had to buy some inside the ground because it was so bloody hot.

just wondering why dont they let you take in cans ????

Just wondering why you didn't report the theft of your drinks. Supermarket staff can be sacked for eating a grape, same should apply here. Stewards want to act petty, then take the piss by nicking your property? Don't get mad, get even.

i thought every football fan in the world knew that you are not allowed to take cans of drinks into grounds.

soon you'll be complaining about not being able to take Stanley knives on planes

Fly via Gatwick, the security is so slack you'll get a blade through. We have just got back from Spain and the missus had a few contraband cosmetics (i.e. liquids over 100ml) and a bottle on Evian in her luggage on the way out....and even more on the way back.

Quite right, you should know really that cans aren't permitted BUT you have been a victim of crime, sue the stewards.

A steward at the gate asked to look at my sons rucksack before letting him in before realising he wasn't wearing one ! He was only wearing the new blue away kit but the steward thought the dark blue epaulettes were bag straps! Just a thought if they are so interested in searching bags why don't they search the person as if you were so inclined you could conceal a weapon on ones person (i.e. a fanta can) and carry a bag- I could guarantee they would only look in the bag.

It's not the stewards. They're only going by the rules they are given and it's their job to enforce them.
