If you take soft drinks or water to a game make sure they are in a plastic bottle then the stewards cant confiscate them.

You cant take anything into Wembley

i sit so far away from the pitch it's unlikely im going to throw it at players, plus id rather drink it, not like im a thug or something

I think you will find its for the fans safety as well as the players.

i thought every football fan in the world knew that you are not allowed to take cans of drinks into grounds.

World? They SELL cans of drinks in Premier League grounds here, as well as letting you take them in. UK rules, basically (although Derry City sell them too)

can't argue cos i don't do prem grounds, but i'd be surprised if prem grounds allow you to buy cans and let you drink from them whilst watching the match

funny that as you go to some grounds and they will take away your bottle caps but not at withdean

That ruling was seen as a bit silly and was taken away, first season at Withdean it was the same.

Bit pissed off today after queuing up for the Ice Cream Van to be told that the lady there isn't allowed to sell drinks, although she has them on board.

I'm not sure but I think at Wembley you can buy drinks inc beer in the ground but you are not allowed to take it to the seats you have to drink it out the back

Went to Charlton recently and they didnt sell cans just bottles, and they didnt let you have the bottle tops. Would imagine a similar situation at Prem clubs.

have to say, this i nothing to do with the stewards, its the clubs policy they are following. write to them about it. its a silly rule (you aint goign to thrwo anything acorss the track let alone the pitch or towards opposition fans), but not unusual.

pubs wouldnt let you take food in to eat and clubs or music venues wouldnt allow any drinks either as they are protecting their sales. some places have the wierd no caps rule, others insist on despensing drinks bought to a cup so you cant throw the bottle (didnt hollies use to thow bottles of piss on the opposition fans?). really, i dont know why you thought you could get cans in unchallenged.

It is absurd that anybody would expect that they could take a can into a football match. Some clubs as people have said sometimes take the cap off of bottles so that they cannot be thrown.

I buy 2 bottles of coke at tesco (2 for £1.50 rather than £1.50 each at Withdean) and have had no problems taking them in.

Those Stewards must have been hot.
Some kind soul gave them all a can of Fanta each.............how thoughtful;)

i noticed there were 2 stewards in away stand, because 2 stewards will obviously stop 200 orient fans

Wow - I was in the away stand, so must have been HALF of the compliment of stewards!
You obviously mis-counted there mate, probably because we keep our heads down in the TRENCHES so they can't see the whites of our eyes :p :lolol:

The away lot were particularly mental yesterday too - I saw one elderly lady move seat and CHAT with a mate of hers, and one lad even waved his scarf.....there was a wasp around there or something.

Right here, right now
I heard that one of the away fans was ejected for turning the pages of his program too loudly!
