Call me an optimistic, sentimental old fool but with goals all over the team, and Capello at the helm, I really fancy us to win it.....seriously!:)

No mate you're just an England fan! Of course we CAN win it - we're there and we're undoubtedly one of the best teams with one of the best qulifications of anyone bar Spain and Holland I think.

We are 3rd favourites which some people tend to forget - and i think we're around 3rd / 4th favourites in most countries bookies. In a recent survey in Germany 10% said England would win it! We must have a brilliant chance for 1 in 10 Germans to suggest we'll win! :lolol:

I think we'll get to the semis and anything can happen but Spain are brilliant and Brazil not far off brilliant...

If Greece can win the Euros, then we are capable of having a chance to win the World Cup... go on the lads.

1/4 final knock out on pens.

John Terry to miss the vital kick, then immediately signs for new Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho and never plays for England again.

Knobs Kakas wife?

I have a horrid feeling we will lose in the 2nd round to Germany

NOT another thread on JT or any individual players FFS - we've had enough of that.

That's better - good plain English...

No need to calm down just saying the thread isn't about any players or whatever rumours / stories you wish to believe about them.

.

What's exciting is the effect on the African nations of playing on their home continent.

this is a silly comment. for africans to get to SA they have to fly to europe first. in what way will this make a difference?

SA is hardly very "african."

No European team has won a World cup held outside of Europe. Only Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay have done that. Conversely, there has only been 1 non-European World Cup winner for a World Cup held in Europe, Brazil in Sweden in 1958.

I actually fear Australia more than Germany these days. Recently, we've done well over the Germans, whereas the Aussies pretty much own us in whatever sport we play (except cricket, for the time being).

Australia were bloody unlucky in going out to Italy 4 years ago and I reckon they'll fancy their chances again.

They don't concede many but are AWFUL up-front especially now it looks like Kewell will miss the World Cup. Josh Kennedy is terrible as his ONE goal all season in the Bundesliga showed.

They won away to Holland a couple of years ago, and drew 0-0 to them in Oz last year. But they were raped by them in the return leg & would have lost handsomely if Huntelaar could hit a barn door.

I'm not really worried by them

I've got us down as going out in the Quarters to France on Pens, I deffo think we'll get the Aussies in the 2nd round though which really worries me but think we'll sneak past.

Any guesses for what will be Englands contentious decision that knocks us out ?, silly red card ?, disallowed terry header ?, Ashley Cole giving away a dodgy pen ?.
