It’s just a personal opinion on how differing ideologies can combine to produce something else entirely.

So you say they can combine ... can you think of any examples of where (actual) socialism has mixed with other ideologies to create fascism?

If you're wondering why you're being pressed on this, it's because I'd say that there are a few people thinking you've made a very politically motivated point, presumably because you favour the Conservative Party over Labour in the coming election, to somehow infer that socialism leads to fascism ... when as Harry Wilson, has quite rightly pointed out, they are as close to opposite as two ideologies can get

It's just crazy that all over Europe the far right is on the march to the extent that it is. Nazi salute openly displayed in football matches, ridiculous racist governments being elected in eastern europe and now this. Alarming times and normal thinking people have got to peacefully but firmly say that this is unacceptable

I have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about. HWT is one of the few people on here who’s views I respect, whether I agree with them or not. In my field of expertise I will hold my own with anyone, but as far as politics are concerned, I have views and opinions, but that is all they are.

The question has to be asked why are they on the march ?

They tried that during 1939 - 1945. How did that work out?

Ps, It was just a thought, I do not condone Nazism at all.

Gents (or ladies, let's not be presumptious) we have nothing to argue about. One of those conversations that wouldn't create confusion in a pub because one would say 'are you speaking literally or semanically or politically or hypothetically? And then we'd explain.

My fault for intiating a conversation that doesn't work well on a forum.

Or as John Cleese once said, 'is this a 10 minute argument or do you want the full half hour'?

Can you expand a bit on how socialism can lead to fascism or racism?

History has shown that extreme socialism (communism) and extreme nationalism (fascism) have the same outcomes in practice: oppression, genocide, dictatorship, racism and war.

Also, the momentum version of labour are sadly demonstrating how socialism can embrace racism and hatred as much as fascists via anti semitism

The Nazis were defeated with a massive input from the US and Russia. So it’s win win win for the PPFs this time...

Was in Dresden in September and saw nothing but normal life and driving through the Silesian countryside was idyllic. Racist ***** everywhere. Very worrying.

Indeed Knocky it is worrying. I agree. Wonder what causes it. We know the history from 33 - 45. Any suggestions why regarding the here and now?

A BBC report stating that Dresden, a city known for it's far right views, has taken the step of declaring an emergency, due to an escalation of Nazi extremism.

The resolution acknowledges that "right-wing extremist attitudes and actions... are occurring with increasing frequency" and calls on the city to help victims of far-right violence, protect minorities and strengthen democracy.

Seems very surreal to have all this going on.

Keep going im nearly their
