Chuck Berry and Elvis both did a 14 year old girls, yet its still ok to play their music.

You'd have to be pretty sick to play anything by Gary Glitter as far as I am concerned. His wasn't just a case of sleeping with someone who looked older than she was, it was really nasty stuff.

Here, for example, is what was said at his conviction for child porn:

"A police sergeant arrested Glitter when he returned to collect his computer.

An initial examination of the computer revealed that it stored "the most appalling images" of very young children engaged in most humiliating sexual acts, said the QC.

The examinations, said Mr Royce, revealed firstly that he had downloaded the material and secondly "that it was carefully, deliberately and enthusiastically done".

More than 4,000 such images, mostly of young girls but many of young boys, were found.

Mr Royce said they showed "very young children, some appeared as young as two, in the main ranging from three, four, five and six up to possibly about nine or 10".

And yes, he does profit from you playing his music, even if you already have it. As long as people keep playing his music, new people will go out and buy it. He may not need the money, but I still wouldn't knowingly give him any of mine - and I wouldn't want to encourage anyone else to give him any either.

Actually the mention of Bill Wyman is an interesting point, likewise Chuck Berry who had sex with a 14 year old girl but playing ding a ling is still ok!

Back to the Rolling stones, Jagger and Richards had drug convictions as have many musicians, Phil Spector is a convicted murderer, Tommy Lee of Motley Crue beat his wife, even Elvis had underage sex with Priscilla! So why is it acceptable to play their music but not Glitter's?

Obviously Glitter is a sick bastard and his actions can't ever be condoned, just seems a bit odd that the perpetrators of other equally sick crimes seem to be more acceptable than he is.

Anyone who's got a problem with Gareth Glitter's music but who are happy shoppping at HMV, Zavvi, Amazon.co.uk and all the other online music retailers that continue to make money selling his CDs need to consider their positions me thinks.

Some of the older folks on here may have gone to his gang shows back in the late 80's which were the forerunner of many of these pre-christmas shows that are around nowadays. They were a good fun night out at the time although you obviously wouldn't go these days.

It's us brits who are most offended by his music these days. If you watch US sport they often play Rock n Roll Part 2 before and/or during games.

His Gang Shows were bloody brilliant.....At Christmas time, you had the Glitter gang show, madness and then Status Quo all in about 5 days at the Centre.

One Christmas I couldn't hear anything till Boxing day...

It's not a joke Uncs. People get irate about GG but are happy to overlook the fact that many companies we use to purchase music on are still happy to 'quietly' cream off the profits from this convicted paedophile. You won't find his stuff in the high street racks of HMV because they wouldn't dare, but you can still get it from their website.
