When are we gonna ditch the Dodd?!

At least players like Blackwell earned the loyalty and support of the club before getting injured long term.
We're currently getting about as much use out of him as Graeme Souness would from a Newcastle United season ticket!
Why do we seem intent giving him our precious non-existent dosh? Or do we just enjoy paying the pensions of certain other south coast clubs.
No offence to Dodd intended, who was a decent player for Saints in his day, but surely he can understand where i'm coming from. :glare:

He has a bad back. My Southampton mates tell me his missus is an absolute cracker. Not sure if the two are related though.

Are people really so thick that they dont realise that if a player is injured we still have to honour their contract?

As we have to pay anyway then of course we will keep him in case he can come back.

And its hardly his fault hes f***ed his back.

said in todays daily star that he is back in training again. i think he could be vital to our survival if he can get fit enough.

He is training again this week. Dodd played in the first few games of the season and did well. He had to have the ankle operation which took the normal 6-8 weeks to recover and then started a game at Cardiff. It was during that game that his back was injured so he has given service to the club and got injured in doing so.
Nothing wrong there.

It's great that he's almost fit but with Hinsh back and the emergence of Lynch it doesn't make much difference cos it's all about the strikers we haven't got.

It helps if we can keep a clean sheet as the team get dejected once the opposition score.

Dodd is needed for his experience and morale. McGhee says he is vital for the changing room because we have not got Charlie. None of our players have the experience other than last season on staying up.

Half of the teams in this League Doddsy has played agaisnt in the Premiership, and his vital know how is invaluable. Think he could be a valuable coaching asset for the defenders too.

The facts speak for themselves, it's lack of goals that will relegate us, not the lack of clean sheets.

McGhee will stand or fall by his ability to find that elusive goalscorer because fans are getting fed up of watching us draw blank after blank.

He was only ever a cheap reserve in case one of our players got a long term injury. Can he play Charlie Oatway's role?

Read my post.

He is an important role in the changing room. Notice that he and Tank have partnered up together agaisnt Charlie in the QPR programme?

Not exactly true as our goal difference is worth a point to most other clubs at the bottom of the division.

The first lesson in football is do not concede a goal that way you do not lose and only need to score 1 goal to win.

Brian Clough always maintained Peter Shilton earnt his club 20 points a season through keeping a clean sheet. If Dodds can come back and help us achieve that I will be happy.

I get onto you when you post rubbish so I will highlight a good post.
I agree with every word.

I suggest you look at the table again. Our goal difference is the 3rd worst in the division, and only 2 goals better than Millwall's. So no, our goal difference is complete shite. We've scored 30 in 32 games, but conceded 49.

As far as I can see, we're not good enough in either area. And that is why we need to reinforce with some quality loan signings (not just a single striker IMO), or we are going to go down.

Our main problem appears to be our second half showings. We never seem to take advantage when we have a strong first half showing, and invariably seem to be turned over in the second half. I remember Pavillionaire listing about 6 games where we threw points away in the opening 20 odd games. At the time, I obviously didn't care about this because Placky had told us all that results at this point in the season didn't matter. Sadly, he has been proved wrong.
