You have a very valid point. The current labour party are über authoritarian which probably sits less well with the lib dems than the con's social stance.

You have said that many times now but I am a loss to what you mean. In what way are they "uber authoritarian"?

The whole thing's f***ed.

Clegg has lost the support of his party and his supporters by entering into a deal with the Tories.

Cameron has similarly lost support for his conceding to the Lib Dems and the senior Labour backbenchers know full well it will only end in tears so are quite happy to prevent the party from getting involved so they can regroup, elect a new leader and form a credible opposition to a government that can and will only be a disaster.

Before you know it the public will be so sick of the Lib/Con screw up that they'll forget the mistakes made by New Labour and end up voting in NEW New Labour with their younger, prettier and more media savvy leader at the helm.

The Tories will implode just as they did after 1997 and the Liberal Democrats will be all but finished as their support is decimated across the country.

We then see NO credible opposition to New New Labour and can only sit back as one by one all of our civil liberties are prised away from each and every one of us in the name of "progress" thanks to the autocratic rule of our now unopposed leader.

Hands up, is ANYONE happy to see the Lib Dems and Tories form a government together? Be honest.

I think I'd actually have preferred a minority Conservative government.

This country is f***ed

It's only the second time:wave:

How about:

-ID cards
-Ignoring Europe over the DNA database
-Ignoring experts over the classification of drugs
-CCTV nation
-howevermanyitisnow days in custody without trial
-Various examples of the breakdown of rights to free speach

I do agree with this.

Very unhappy with a Con/Lib Dem coalition. It will be a complete disaster though not for Labour. The Conservatives spent most of the election campaign running Lib Dem policy down at every available opportunity. Yet now they are happy to form a coalition with them

Likewise the Lib Dems despise and distrust the Tories yet they're now content to join forces with them!. Unbelievable. Would have much preferred either a Lab/Lib Dem or minority Conservative government.

All in all, Labour will end up being the winners from this IF they choose the right party leader (i.e. either Alan Johnson or David Milliband).

according to people to 2 left wing parties in a coalition is not stable but somehow a coalition between a left wing and right wing parties is stable? LOL

It would not have been 2 left wing parties, though, would it? It would have been 2 large parties and a number of small ones. In any case, not all Lib Dems are left wing, nor are all their supporters. Many people vote Lib Dem in Liverpool or Newcastle for example, as the Conservative Party has collapsed in those places, and I say that as a paid up member of the party.

I am not a Lib Dem supporter, but I cannot think there would be a single voter of theirs who is happy about this. So much for Clegg and his "opportunity to do things differently" bullshit at the TV debates. He has proven himself to be a power-hungry career politician like no other, and has sold out a lot of people in doing so.

As an aside Channel 4 are 'interviewing' John Prescott at the moment - what a clown he is - he can barely speak English!
