For me, it's one of the best plots in a film I've ever seen.

I have to disagree. For me, the best filmmakers of our generation are Michael Haneke and Abbas Kiarostami - perhaps Edward Yang and Pedro Almodóvar could be added to that, but Nolan's a long way off in my opinion.

it is just me then:) Im only 38 aswell I must be stuck in the past,as i dont like flat tv screens and the 3d movies out now are not proper 3d....I went to disneyland(la) in the 80's,now that was proper 3d!

the 3d movies out now are not proper 3d....I went to disneyland(la) in the 80's,now that was proper 3d!

There are three 3d attractions in the Tokyo Disney resorts too that demonstrate proper 3D cinema (ie you are literally flinching in your seat and putting your hands out in front of you to check it isn't real).

This quasi-fake 3D trend is just another excuse to bump up ticket prices and I'm not having any of it.

One of the reasons I also love Christopher Nolan is that he realises that he doesn't need gimmicks to sell his movies.

I'd like to know what he said to the studio execs when they suggested that the 3rd Batman film be released in 3D (and you know they did). I'd like to imagine it was something like "go feck yourselves."

Nolan is amazing. He co-writes with his brother, Jonathan I think??

Those who wanted him to go back to the old stuff, he's going to do the next Spiderman or maybe a franchise of that too. Inception is my favourite film of all time. It just beats Ace Ventura

Looking at his list of films I can't say there's one on the list I like.

Batman I cannot stand.

Marvel Comics characters any day over DC characters.

Really?

Not even Memento or The Prestige?

Both superb films.

Nope, none of them really grabbed my undivided attention.

Not a fan of Christian Bale at all.

I struggle to watch films with actors in that I know are completes wankers outside of their acting role.

Thus no Tom Cruise or Christian Bale films do it for me.

I think Bale just takes his profession and art very seriously indeed. A very intense fellow but imo the greatest actor around at the moment.

Thought Dark Knight Rises was pretty average. Emperors New Clothes for me. Some of the dialogue and acting were painful!
Liked Dark Knight, Inception, Prestige and Memento though.
Think he is a very good director but certainly not the Best of a Generation (at least not yet anyway)

Sorry, we are talking about the same Christopher Nolan who wrote that piece of confused nonsense, Inception? Who also just ended a mediocre trilogy of Batman films with a piece of shit like Dark Knight Rises. No, you are quite wrong and need to educate yourself. Memento and Batman Begins are great his output since is pretty average at best. There are far better directors Nicholas Winding Refn? Andrew Dominik?

I've seen all his films and none of them fall below 'good'. The Prestige is my favourite, though.

2012 The Dark Knight Rises - great

2010 Inception - great

2008 The Dark Knight - great

2006 The Prestige - brilliant

2005 Batman Begins - brilliant

2002 Insomnia - good

2000 Memento - great

1998 Following - good

1997 Doodlebug (short) (as Chris Nolan) - cute

The Prestige is your favourite but it's 'brilliant' instead of 'great'? Isn't that the wrong way round?

Inception was style over substance. Just a bad film. Batman Begins was very well done, The Dark Knight was overblown nonsense, highly praised for a rather annnoying turn by Heath Ledger and sold on hype. My point is, to hold Nolan up as the best director in ten years/his generation is ludicroous. It is the sort of thing someone who sees 4 films a year, all of them megabudget blockbusters says. Don't get me wrong,I like a good event movie but don't call them classics. Don't roll shit into little balls and call it anything else but shit in little balls.

Anyway, I not somone has declared Welcome to the Jungle as the best film of the last decade. I declare myself out.

Would go along with all of this. Phenomenal record already, if he keeps it up he will go down as one of the greatest ever.

Oh, I did like prestige and Insomnia. I can't stand Leonardo Dicaprio, such a one trick pony.
