Second to none in my opinion.

Just got back from the final Batman film. Utterly superb.

In my eyes no other director of the last 15 years can touch him.

I agree. At the moment and for the last 10 years he has been the best bar none. Spielberg is the greatest ever imo but he has been living on past glories for a while with only Warhorse being a major achievement in that time for me. I know not all did like it but for me it was his best film for 10 years. Nolan has made superb films everytime starting with Memento.

Memento is still my favourite of his, but the final Batman film was sublime I thought.

What did you make of it US?

All started with:

YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.

I've seen all his films and none of them fall below 'good'. The Prestige is my favourite, though.

2012 The Dark Knight Rises - great

2010 Inception - great

2008 The Dark Knight - great

2006 The Prestige - brilliant

2005 Batman Begins - brilliant

2002 Insomnia - good

2000 Memento - great

1998 Following - good

1997 Doodlebug (short) (as Chris Nolan) - cute

For my money Batman Rises is the best of the 3 Batman films by some way, and the other two are amazing.

You'll be in for a treat mate.

I'd say it was the worst :lolol:

Dark Knight my favourite by quite some distance

Heath Ledger made The Dark Knight something special. An Oscar worthy performance imo.

I've heard terrible things about Bane's voice, most hate it - comic book fans and big movie lovers, but a few love it - all have been girls.

+ can't believe Usual Suspects is not in best films of last 10 years.
+ LA Confidential, Welcome to the Jungle? ;-)

usual suspects was 95, la confidential was 97, both outside the last 10 years. welcome to the jungle would qualify as it was 2003.

I didn't have a problem with bane's voice. Nor did any of my friends who have seen it, and they aren't comic book fans and only one of them is a woman.

No prob with Bane from me.

I couldn't hear what he sounded like in the comics.

He doesn't write does he?
I'm sure he has input etc

The last two Batman films are surprisingly messy when you consider the incredibly precise storytelling of his other films.

I'd say Paul Thomas Anderson is a worthy contender if we're going down the path of the last 15 years. There will be blood is one of my favourite films of all time, along with Magnolia.

Hither (sometimes Thither)
He's an effective producer of mostly despairing semi-macho adventures with twists and thrills aplenty, built for the child in all of us. He's very good at what he does and i hope he's lain down the gauntlet for others to challenge him and bring the weighty ominousness of late 80s comicbooks to other works too. Hopefully his budgets will shrink and he'll get back on with the standard formula of a decent action tale in and around 2 hours in length rather than thinking he ought to tangle the world in knots. The last two Batmans and Inception were just too loud and emotionally colourless for my liking and went on as boringly as the end of Lords of the Rings 3 for bits. And the dialogue was oft embarrassing.
I'll be keeping an eye out for Nicholas Winding Refn's next one as i was a fan of the mood and feel of Drive.
