Just do good deeds all year round  When boiling hot, give binman ice cold drinks etc. Must be in the blood, my mum and dad made a cuppa for their binmen every week for decades. They used to always take their break outside the house and out the oldies would go with a tray, milk, sugar and biscuits. Mum dad always like that, they helped tramps with new clothes, invited in for a hot meal, sent on way with packet of cigarettes after, gave people stranded a bed for night (got kicked out my bedroom on more than one occasion!) and so forth. Numerous occasions over the years. She was a very kind soul my Mum, just like her Dad. Pillar of community!!
What a wonderful attitude they had.

My tip to the postman is, don't leave rubber bands all over my doorstep.
My tip to the bin boys is make sure you give me the right bin back.
My tip to milko is use an electric van at 2.00am.
My tip to my hairdresser is don't cut my ears.

With all those tips my suppliers are lucky to have me.

It's a big no for my bin men. Surly bunch and if anything drops from the bin when they are loading up apparently health & safety prevents them from bending down to pick up! Not forgetting the incident where they reversed over my green bin and in the process took a chunk out of the driveway gate post and then denied it!

Not the nicest job and undoubtedly they do provide a vital service. However, I'm old enough to remember when they walked up the length of your garden and back with a big old metal bin on their back.

Do you tip your refuse collectors (related: is binmen / dustmen an acceptable term in 2022?), your postman and similar?

Who gets a tip and how much do they get?
If I wanted to do that I would have to find them first. They are on strike. They were last week anyway. No-one on our road knows if they are coming tomorrow and which bin it might be if they do arrive. They are back on strike from 24th Dec to 8th Jan. Happy Christmas to every last one of them..

three weeks running Lewes binmen left one full rubbish bag in the bottom of my wheely bin due to not being arsed to reach inside and pull it out. Not sure why they don’t simply attach the bin to the back of the truck rather than “decanting” it, like they used to, having said that I once watched from my window my previous wheely go straight into the back of the truck albeit accidentally. They then drove off like Simon on his driving lesson in The Imbetweeners when he backed into that car. I rang up to complain but they denied it. So in a nutshell they’re getting the steam off my piss
Bagged compliantly hopefully?
