Beating the Saudis and Spurs at home were also PL highlights … tearing the opposition apart, plenty of goals, team performance. Only late in the game laxness giving a false impression of non greatness. Beheady was visibly shell shocked with that loss.

Fully agreed. Wilder was fantastic for us..galvanised the whole club at a time when we were very close to going pop. Instrumental in getting our current Chairman in and in our promotion winning season playing high press, high energy, attacking football. Also gave Ivan Toney his debut. Real shame he went to Sheff Utd so soon after our winning League 2. Always came across as a thoroughly decent person as well.
if you knew your history i think there was a pretty good chance that Tony Bloom was always going to end up at the helm , it was written in the toilet on the 5.43 from Aldrington back in the 80's...😁
