Literally the forecast for where I was last week:

To be fair, they pretty much nailed it. It was sunny, cloudy and tossing it down with rain simultaneously for most of the time I was there.

I think this is an apt simile for the careers of most professional footballers.
Ooh, did you go to the distillery? Recently bought a bottle of Tomatin 18-year-old sherry cask for my son's 18th.

I’m not sure the Fabio Silva comparison is fair. From what I remember, there wasn’t much competition for him at the time. It always felt like Wolves had been mugged off by another Jorge Mendes move. It sounds rather like there are a few clubs sniffing around this guy, albeit only from the same source that says we’re interested.

Clubs- especially us- base a lot of their stuff on underlying numbers these days, and sometimes the numbers tell them something the human mind can’t see straight away, that shifts traditional perceptions of what somebody is good at and where they might fit in. That’s how the original MoneyBall worked, isn’t it?

I’m rather losing interest in this one. If the Saudis are in the running: a bigger club with Champions League football on offer, he’s not coming here unless he’s the only teenager in Europe with a deep-seated interest in Middle Eastern politics and a moral compass on a par with Greta Thunberg.
Hold the nerve !

Absolutely insane if this goes ahead. Only got to look at Evan to see how huge this risk is.
If the insanity is coming from the £40m price tag, it might be more palatable to speculate that the 'package' starts at around £28m and tops to £40m with the addition of Sima and a number of add-ons (appearances, goals, assists, league position & trophies etc).

I think the package is €40m according to Sky’s earlier reporting. A £29m fixed fee with £5m add ons not £40m

Exactly. You never hear Liverpool fans telling you they paid £50m+ for Mac Allister, do you? It's all about the "bargain" they got at £35m, which was the initial outlay. I'm sure that's long since been eclipsed thanks to his and their performances.
