Dunk, Webster and Veltman first choices, Østigard and Burn as cover, plus one of the others - Roberts ? We’re alright.
p
Yes, this - \I would have included Clarke as cover too, but he's gone to WBA (maybe not a Potter-fave tye player?). Roberts - a bit too early for him, but Ostigard and Burn adaquate cover - and maybe that's also where Potter sees one of the Polish lads. Don't know much about Van Hecke, or Dendoncker. Baluta, I think, may be one we move on. Don't expect (or want) to see us buying a 'replacement' for White - after all, we were quite effective defensively playing four at the back before he came back from Dirty and had to be shoe-horned in.

Is this the same recruitment strategy that saw 2 x strikers binned off and Connolly promoted prematurely to senior striker leaving us so woefully short up front it could have cost us our place in the division has Fulham not been an absolutely inept basket case?

Oh bore off. We’re getting better all the time. Naylor says we are replacing and I believe him over any spotty teenager pretending to be ‘in the know’ on Twitter.

As for strikers, we clearly have a small list. West Ham spent £40m and he was useless. So I trust our incredibly detailed recruitment process over your petulant need to spend money that isn’t your own. We’ll spend money when we find the right solution.

Next season, Newcastle, Southampton, Norwich, Brentford, Watford and potentially Palace and Wolves should be worse than us even without buying a striker so let’s wait for the right option, shall we?

Find another pram for your toys.

Does Brighton need another centre back?

&

Will Brighton sign another centre back?

Are two very different questions. :lolol:

Ostigaard had a great season at Coventry and I know their fans wanted them to sign him permanently. I've heards various reports about him being a natural leader, and potential future captain material. He strikes me as the sort of youngster that if we develop could become another future star for us. The fact that the Potter's coaching style is not just based around developing individuals but also "the group", makes me think Ostigaard would not only have the right temperament, but as he grows in confidence he could become a real asset to the first team squad.

I see Wiki reports him as 175cm. I think he’s similar to White and around 6ft.

175cm makes him a little under 5'9".

The likes of Cannavaro, Puyol and Mascherano have shown you don't need to be 6ft + to make it as a CB though. There have been a few in the Premier League too (Aké, Mariappa, James Chester).

Yes.

We need another.

But maybe one of these lads will get the nod.

Băluță - 22
Has played centre back for the U23s 6 times. Amazing long passer. Could do the job White did at DM if needed.

Dendoncker - 20
Good name.

Van Hecke - 21
Very tall.

Roberts - 19
Left footed baller.

Østigård - 21
Impressive at Coventry.

Ostigard is my guess

No. Burn is a proper footballing centre back. Ostigard/Roberts/Van Hecke all highly regarded - and they all play in front of a big imposing keeper. Invest in the “put the ball in the ****ing net areas”.

This.

Don’t think any of these are ready, for example to step in and cover and injury to dunk, etc early on in the season. None have played above L1.

I’d go for an experienced Upson type. Ie a good pro willing to sit on the bench and be a good role model for the youngsters coming through.

Ostigard played Chanpionship

No idea what the club will do but Ostigard is plenty good enough to be in the squad imo. Roberts is next level good, but might need a championship loan first.

Another vote for Ostigard. I too have a mate who is a Coventry fan, who rates him highly. Plus we have other good options coming through as already listed. Absolutely no need for a new CB. A striker would be nice.
