I would describe it as ample........we just have to work out how to get it

Our Sun pumps about 386 billion million gigawatts into space, mostly in the form of electromagnetic radiation. By comparison, a large nuclear reactor generates about 1 gigawatt, and global energy consumption is a few thousand gigawatts. This energy output is typical for a star in the same class as our Sun.
http://www.wisegeek.com/how-much-energy-does-the-sun-generate.htm

Every hour the sun beams onto Earth more than enough energy to satisfy global energy needs for an entire year.
http://environment.nationalgeographic.com.au/environment/global-warming/solar-power-profile/

Of course it doesn't matter where we get the energy from it all originates from the sun.

Not often i agree with you BF.
I believe there is a place in the world that produces the same energy from one solar plant, that would take about 10 nuclear plants to produce. Of course the powers that be would rather sting us with massive prices from oil etc.
A similar situation to cancer drugs, i believe that cancer can be cured using herbs, hemp oil, marijuana etc and the cure is being stifled because the drug companies don't want a cure and ruin their massive profits, but that is another matter.
By the way, before you think i'm getting a bit liberal or limp wristed....... i do not like Caroline Lucas very much at all.

Thanks for the last line i was concerned that you were knitting your self a pair of yoghurt and muesli (just had this for breakfast :)) sandals as you were typing.

GE think that they could power the US with 100 square miles of solar panels. So maybe it is less about waiting for the technology and more about waiting for them to work out how to fleece us enough to keep their profit margins the same :tantrum: :)

pretty sure the larget solar array under construction is about half a typical nuclear plant output, while taking up thousands of acres.

Nearly right, the largest solar array is in the states at 275mw......most nuclear power stations are 1000+MW...

But that is how technology develops. The first computer was the size of a house and now half of the planet walks round with a powerful computer in their poket.

Your views on cancer treatment confirm to me that you live in LA-LA Land.
Herbs, hemp oil and marijuana can cure cancer can they?Well,if you are convinced, why don't you team up with other crackpots and try and develop your cure for the good of mankind.
By the way,I hope you or any of your family do not get cancer and then put your theories to the test;they will almost certainly die,as would have my wife if she hadn't had orthodox treatment.
Suggest you speak to a few cancer specialists before you write such nonsense. There is massive research going to find a cure for cancer involving the drugs companies,so stop being so naive.

My mother in law beat cancer. She shunned the orthadox treatment and used many different natual remedies. She has also cured her own chronic athma using the same measures. There are many people who tell similar stories.

I thought she was mental at the time but she proved me, her daughter and a few doctors wrong.

That's a tad dismissive. While not in the same league as cancer, my son got a nasty rash on his arms a legs a few years ago and we took him to the doctor. The doctor diagnosed it as "Swimming Pool disease" ( can't remember the fancy name ). He said there was nothing on the market that could be used to get rid of it but it would start to disappear after about a year. Bit annoying as it was itchy and quite unsightly but we trusted the doctor. Few days later we happened to be talking to a neighbour about it and she mentioned she was a herbalist and that the doctor was talking rubbish. She made up a treatment for him made entirely of natural and herbal remedies - two weeks later - all gone.

It's very arrogant to automatically dismiss natural remedies - sadly something many doctors do. I'm not saying there IS a natural cure for cancer but we shouldn't dismiss the idea.

Totally agree with you. 'Cancer' is a very generic term given to a wide variety of diseases that generally manifest themselves as unregulated cell growth - there isnt really just one disease called cancer it is an umbrella word to incorporate the many forms of it, there are over 200 forms of cancer known to affect humans. To suggest that there could be one cure for cancer is uneducated ignorance and would be medically impossible, each form has its own physiology and symptoms and there are already effective treatments to some forms of cancer that whilst not 100% cures are close to it. But the conspiracy theorists love the story that drug companies don't want to find treatments effective against cancer because apparently it would 'ruin their profits'?!?! Really? Can anyone take that statement seriously? The drug companies profits come from drugs used for less lethal conditions, painkillers, malaria, heart disease, high blood pressure and thousands of other conditions and illnesses. Any cure for one of the many forms of cancer would likely increase their profits given that over 13% of deaths worldwide can be attributed to a form of cancer.

Cancer can however be prevented or the chances of getting it minimised by not smoking, reducing alcohol intake and having a healthier diet and better exercise regime. To all the potheads out there believing that getting stoned will cure you of cancer I suggest you've probably skinned up one joint too many but good luck with that.

I am very pleased for her,but I would suggest that is not the way for most people to beat cancer.

It is also very arrogant and dismissive of Soulman to maintain that the drug companies do not want to find a cure for cancer.
As you say,an itch from a swimming pool is hardly in the same league as a disease that kills huge numbers of people every year.

Thank God there is another voice of sanity on NSC.Sometimes I do think the majority of posters are made up of complete lunatics.
Agree with you re minimising the risk of getting cancer, but the irony in my wife's case was that she was a very active and fit exercise and pilates teacher, not overweight,a non smoker and a moderate drinker.

Ta. But she believes that it is her faith that saved her.

I mention this because this thread only needs a row about god and a row about the illuminati to win Binfest Bingo!

I'm struggling to recognise this condition called "Cancer" that can (or, at some time in the future, will) be "Cured" by a simple "Treatment" that will be available to "Everyone".
