Surely it's all about hinterland with them? Lots of successful teams around them in the North West - presumably if any of them drop any promising players, the other teams in the area can pick them up. We don't have that level of mutual support from other teams around us.

Like Liam Bridcutt and Rohan Ince after their release from Chelsea?

If we are wannabe Barcelona, then Burnley are wannabe Germany. When they came down at the end of last season, I was surprised that the whole team seemed to be tall and athletic.

Aside from playing 442, they are probably the fittest side in the Championship alongside Leicester. Maybe a wet and windy winter has favoured the stonger sides over those with maybe a little more finesse.

What can we learn from Burnley.

1 You will score more goals if you get 4-5 players into the box, when a cross comes in.

Sometimes things just click.

If there was a simple formula to get promoted, everyone would do it. We can learn no more from Burnley than we would off Leicester, Cardiff, Hull or THEM.

It's an interesting thing - clicking or gelling, whatever you call it. For 3 years Russell Slade has been around the bottom of Lge 1 but for some reason this season, Leyton Orient have taken off and are real promotion contenders. Orient have been patient with him allowing him to build the team slowly and he's kept a steady side for around 18 months now.

How does this attendance as a percentage of town population compare with Brighton's?

Depends on whether you count Brighton & Hove, the connurbation, or all of Sussex. But whichever way you slice it, Burnley are always top of any chart for attendance relative to population. The London clubs are always at the bottom, for obvious reasons.

Agree on both parts.

Regarding Dyche though , I cant see him ever being a recognised premier manager , I struggle to take him seriously when I see his interviews. Maybe its his beard. Can't argue with his record though

No doubt that's what Watford's owners thought. Not Italian enough either. How's that worked out for them, then?

If you look at population v the attendance figure quoted above (less, say, 1,000 for the away fans) it still works out at about one in every four or five locals going to home matches.

Population of Brighton and Hove (not to mention the rest of Sussex) divided by a rough average non away fans included home attendance of, say, 25,000, works out at about one in ten.

We had two of their strikers in our squad !!

One of which is their backup (as he was ours). The other one was no more than OK under Gus' astute leadership.
