The talking down of our country by reform and Tories in next 48 hours will be quite something. Fishing will be about to die even though we have opened up loads of markets that were closed.

It is like a parent getting grief from a child for stopping them from punching themselves in the face. “But I want to”

Let’s hope growth follows and we can sort out the last decade of craziness and move on.

Gods country fortnightly
The wonderful thing is that those cxxts can do absolutely nothing about it. The more they rant and foam at the mouth the better.
Their best strategy would actually be to say nothing, the more they do say just exposes the huge hit we have taken with very little in return. Farage doesn't want to discuss Brexit, he also promised us all he would leave the country if things went badly

Anything that moves us closer to the biggest trading bloc in the world is good news. However, I cant see much of substance in what has been announced thus far. But however minimal the benefits may be, its a start. The Tories and Reform obviously wouldn't have achieved even this, so its a well done by Starmer from me (I'm not his biggest fan thus far but credit where it is due)

Well the fishing industry will certainly be better off than when he represented the them on the EU fisheries committee as an MEP and couldn't be arsed to actually turn up for 41 of the 42 Fisheries committee meetings he should have been at.

Same old Farage, still lying, still grifting :wanker:
I would suggest that any Tory or Reform MP suggesting that the UK fishing industry is likely to do very well with the new access agreed to EU markets is going to get suspended. Grift, lie, grift.

I have a feeling he'll sink or swim on this one, time will tell.

I hope the deal is positive, I don't really know enough about the fishing industry to really comment. The passport issue though was always a dick move by the EU to force UK to use "Other nationalities" queue, they didn't HAVE to do it but chose to.

And who voted to make the UK 'other nationalities' :dunce:

Of course they didn't, they could make exceptions for any country they wanted to, but to suggest they have an EU + Britain queue and a queue for everyone else in the world but not Britain, so as not upset Gammons who voted for it

Looks like the deal will recoup about a tenth of what Brexit has cost us, some good stuff in there

Wait for Reform and Tories...

Betrayal, Vassal state, Backsliding, Rule Taking etc etc
Quite. Begging the question what was this government ever supposed to do? We were constantly told Brexit would allow us to make our own deals but every time we do, the deals are scorned for... oh, something or another.

From the FT article I linked earlier

"Economists at Aston University have estimated that UK agrifood exports to the EU could be boosted by more than 20 per cent as a result of a vet deal.

UK government sources said ministers would on Monday announce a “Fishing & Coastal Growth Fund” worth £360mn to invest in coastal communities"

The Tories are likely to find something but they are not the opposition anymore. Mainly because the number of MPs they have is irrelevant in this parliament. For me, any deal that brings us closer to the EU is good for trade. And they are our neighbours after all.

Obviously, I'll ignore the mainstream media take on it. I might try and have a read if I'm bored one evening.

All this is a shame really. Why should young folk be denied the chance to travel, learn and work elsewhere ? Some folk have a bewildering take on existence.

I'm sure Mr Farage will be along this peaceful night to clang his symbols.

Are you suggesting that it was just Tory voters who brought about Brexit?

Credit to Starmer and to Jonathan Reynolds for making this agreement with the EU happen.

At last we have a tangible, common sense arrangement, the success of which can be quantified. Hopefully it will be the start of a series of measures that will help improve our economy and give British people and businesses better opportunities and outcomes.

Labour have done in less than 1 year what the Tories failed to do in 8 years. At last we have a grown-up government running the show.

And where does this leave the Tories? Where can they go with this? Farage has claimed the Brexiteer support, Labour can claim they are improving things whilst adhering to Brexit, the Lib Dems can claim this deal vindicates their pro-EU agenda.

What is Kemi's distinct USP re the EU? Arguably, they have become a political irrelevance, contributing nothing to the debate.

Labour have to keep tackling Farage head on over Europe and not be afraid of the Brexit debate because what was his greatest strength could become his greatest weakness.
