It's funny how Italy is always used as an example.

I was thinking maybe a bit more like Germany, Hungary, Mexico, New Zealand, Republic of Korea, Tajikistan, Thailand, Albania, Algeria, Angola, Bolivia, Djibouti, Guyana, Lesotho, Libya, Madagascar, Nepal, Republic of Moldova, Sudan, Argentina, Armenia, Austria, Belgium, Benin, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Burundi, Cabo Verde, Cambodia, Cameroon, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Andorra, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Egypt, Georgia, Japan, Jordan, Kyrgyzstan, Lithuania, Mauritania, Niger, North Macedonia, Panama, Philippines, Russian Federation, Senegal, Seychelles, Ukraine, Venezuela, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Equatorial Guinea, Estonia, Fiji, Finland, Greece, Guatemala, Guinea-Bissau, Honduras, Iceland, Indonesia, Israel, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Latvia, Lebanon, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Montenegro, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, North Macedonia, Netherlands, Nicaragua, Norway, Paraguay, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Rwanda, San Marino, Sao Tome and Principe, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, Suriname, Sweden, Switzerland, Timor-Leste, Togo, Tunisia, Türkiye Uruguay, Ireland or Malta
Why woudn't Italy be used as an example - they use PR?

I almost stopped reading at Hungary, then I thought no - I'll carry on - but I really did stop when you listed Albania, Djibouti and Libya. :ROFLMAO:

As a mod I have to be much nicer than Simster, but, honestly, the mental gymnastics needed to get to your original point and this reply are in Nadia Comăneci territory.

"Nothing much has altered"? Since the 2016 referendum the whole planet has been altered by a pandemic and two large scale wars, the country has seen three unelected prime ministers, the latest of whom has less support that Rochdale's away following, a leading Brexiteer Prime Minister has broken the law of the land, Northern Ireland doesn't have a government, Nigel Farage has been de-banked, people's mortgages, food and heating have trebled and still the little rubber boats keep coming at an even greater rate.

What would it take for you? A nuclear bomb?
If it hits Burnley, would anyone notice?

As I said, you could use Italy as an example of PR or you could use Germany, Hungary, Albania, Republic of Moldova, Armenia, Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Andorra, Georgia, Lithuania, North Macedonia, Ukraine, Estonia, Finland, Greece, Iceland, Kosovo, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ireland or Malta as examples.

And maybe just limiting it to European examples is more to your liking

And for examples of FPTP, you use UK, Belarus or ....................... oh that's it

But this thread is about Brexit

I enjoyed reading the exchange between Simster and HWT. There's nothing wrong with a bit of robust debate.

As regards Brexit, what this Covid enquiry is revealing is just how awful the main spokespeople for Vote Leave (Johnson / Cummings) actually are as people.

For them, it's all about short-termism, popularity, power. They are both arrogant, two-faced, duplicitous liars, with no consideration for other people and no consideration for the shitfest they leave behind once their snouts are out of the political trough.

But not everyone was taken in and fooled by those narcissistic clowns Johnson and Cummings

Farage managed to get quite a few too

I notice no one on here is so deluded that s/he will defend those two, so that's progress.....
Ooh, do let me know when the invites go out.

Imagine quoting the wrong but ironically appropriate post, you really need to be quicker on the edit button

It's very kind of you to offer, and I don't wish to appear rude, but if myself and H had wanted to be joined by a dribbling moron, we would have arranged this before ppf was banned

What, like Italy? (68 Governments in 76 years)

BTW, I'd like to get rid of FFTP - Blair had the chance, but why would any Govt. with a huge majority get rid of a system that's got them elected?

Some form of PR is needed, but it has to be carefully thougt out - and it will never happen unless we see a hung Parliment with Lib Dems holding the balance of power.
Responding to a call for something and citing the worst possible example of it as an attempt to denigrate the idea is really weird.

Like someone saying “we should sign a Premier League striker” and someone replying to that with “what, like Chuba Akpom?”
