Boyd and Taylor

There are suggestions coming out of Peterborough that we are now in talks. This is from, I'm lead to believe, a local journalist.

Town’s contract offers to Posh pair Paul Taylor and George Boyd were a long way from the terms they were after, according to reports in Peterborough. The duo were at Portman Road for talks, the traditional tour of the facilities and to pass medicals yesterday, but late in the evening informed the club via the agent they share that they would not be accepting their offers.

We understand that the move could still be revived before Friday's deadline but it would appear that the Blues would have to offer significantly improved terms in order to land the players.

Posh are keen for the duo to move on for the fee believed to be somewhere in the region of £1.75 million to £2 million before the transfer window closes with other clubs also believed to be interested, Brighton having been linked.

Town boss Paul Jewell, whose usual Thursday press conference was moved to Friday yesterday afternoon, is continuing his search for new signings, including alternatives to Boyd and Taylor, as he looks to add several players to his squad before Friday’s deadline.

Regardless of the failure to secure the Peterborough pair, midfielder Ryan Stevenson will complete his Blues exit prior to the transfer window closing.

The 28-year-old’s contract is set to be terminated in order to ease a switch back to a Scottish club – he was in talks with Motherwell yesterday but other sides are also interested – with his wife believed not to have settled in Suffolk since the midfielder’s £50,000 move from Hearts in January. Stevenson is also keen to play more regularly than he has at Town.

Not that fussed about either Boyd or Taylor - are they really the right calibre to get us into the promotion mix? Maybe the quality of players that would be around them at The Amex might help them raise their game?

I guess they might be a useful double signing with Noone departing plus Orlandi doesn't happen. Plus it seems Posh are open to offers.

Happy to be proved wrong of course. Would be ironic if they arrive just as CMS goes off to Norwich as the rumour suggests.

CMS to Norwich. More than enough then to meet the wage demands Town refused to pay. (as with the goalie)

Noone has left Brighton yes, many rumours on twitter re Taylor and Boyd, but no real credible source

Do we really want Paul Taylor the cokehead who came from the Belgian FIFTH division and scored a total of 12 times in his Peterboro career?

Not convinced by Boyd. Talented in L1 but has never pulled it off at this level. Was dismal on loan to Forest that time & as far as Posh fans are concerned, he's temperamental & turns it on when it suits him.

Probably a fair assesment, no reason to get too excited about Boyd

Do the two of them come as a package ? Are they joined at the hip or is it a BOGOF offer ?

Looks like it and that's exactly what Simon Clegg told them to do when they slapped their wage demands on the table at PR- BOGOFF!

Perfect for the Albion. Pay 'em exactly what they want eh?

Given that the Albion are a club that are having to let players go before we sign anyone (see Noone to Cardiff), obviously paying them exactly what they want isn't on the cards.

Were you one of the confused few who made the banner?
