Brighton is a bit gash now isn't it. I was thinking about this, and have had some top nights in London, Leeds & Manchester recently, but look at Brighton listings and it all looks pretty rubbish. For housey type stuff at least.

Not sure what's on on a Thursday now. In the old days you could go to Contagious @ The honey club and it would be rammed every week. Kids are lame now and don't go out clubbing, even decent nights at Audio were half empty this summer.

Got to agree with this. You used to be able to get a decent night in Brighton every night of the week. I am a bit okder now and went out in the summer after a really warm day and the clubs were dead and it was rubbish. I used to love the summer would be out 5 nights a week. Now it is harder to find a decent night.

Yep, I remember on more than a few occasions being round a mates house on Sunday night and deciding to go to the Honey. You could guarentee it would be packed and everyone would be off their nut!

*edit* Just to add, of the house nights I went to this summer most felt more like a fashion show than a rave. Go clubbing in London and it's not like that at all.

Indeed. I was surprised to see it replaced by "shoosh", looking like a clone of a West Street club.

I bloody HATE Oceana.

Mainly because they don't let you take drinks onto the dancefloor. Actually forget "mainly". That IS the reason.

I don't want to make the active decision to DANCE. I want to end up on there with my drink in my hand and think "How on earth did I get here?". Also, what the HELL am I meant to do with my left hand with no BOTTLE in it? It's completely REDUNDANT when throwing SHAPES.

Is there a club in Brighton that offers Table/Bottle service - aka Vegas Style?

The only ones of late to attempt it (And didn't do it very well) were Head Candy (Closed) and the place at the Marina (few years back).

Are there any I'm not aware of?

Not meaning to sound like a jerk, but the idea of standing in a queue for a bar and then have someone nick my seat does not appeal!

Bang on the money. I came back to Brighton a few months back and went to Audio on a Friday night. It was half empty. I used to love going out in Brighton during the noughties at places like The Honey, Zap and Escape to get completely off my head. Great days with rammed venues. Nowadays i'd probably only venture to the Concorde II for Devotion if it was on when i was over.

One of my mates always speaks very highly of Casablancas. I haven't been there in years. Sounds like it's still a lively night out, if you like that sort of place.

In London i used to like Fabric and The End when it was open. The Cable club near London Bridge has closed. That used to run some fairly decent nights.

Anyway, Brighton is still good for pubs. The club scene has lost it's way somewhat. The recession is obviously a factor i.e they are trying too hard to cater for the young, towny/trevor crowd in my humble opinion.

Wherever Boogaloo Stu and Dynamite Sal are on a Thursday night is the place to be.

hungry years?

Well it's full name was "The Hungry Years Gathering Place" but most of us referred to it as "The Years".

Now a gay bar/club called The Charles Street. So if that's what your looking for, you've found it. So, along with my long gone hair, I still miss "The Years".
