Much how I rate Mr Bertin how much longer does Wilkins wait?

Its been reported the deal offered to him is a good one but could the money be spent on someone who 100% wants to sign?

think bertin is key, and if rehmann is signing then we have another player, along with fraser and the returning oatway, who can both play in the holding role should he go else well

We've offered him a better deal than anyone else and he still hasn't signed. He obviously thinks he's better than he actually is. He can piss off for all i care - if he genuinely wanted to play for us, he'd have signed by now.

Thats such bollocks! He obviously has other options, probably some in France and some in championshiop (i obviously dont know that for a fact). If we have offered him more than those other clubs (i wasnt aware that we had?) then his agent will go back and say that to the other clubs trying to make them improve their offers. Its a big move abroad for him coming over here and im sure hes taking his time making sure he makes the right decision for him and his family.

£1000 a week is hardly a good offer.

I've no idea how 'good he thinks he is', but I tell you, he's the best and most important player that we [possibly] have. He isn't an Albion fan - he's entitled to look around for other offers. Pray he signs in the end, because none of Oatway, Rehman, Fraser or El Abd have 50% of his ability.

Obviously it'd be very good news if he signed. But I feel that Hammond is a far more important player and Lynch is a far more talented player.
Bertin was less effective once Hammond was out injured.

Hammond was less effective when Bertin wasn't playing. Neither rely totally on the other but as a pair they have the potential to be one of the best in this division.

I really hope i have egg on my face, and he's more than the ordinary midfielder that i think he is, but i honestly can't see it happening.

But in my opinion a player should WANT to play for a club who's made (by all accounts) the BEST possible offer they can, rather than keeping us as a back-up last resort and leaving us in the limbo. If he doesn't want to sign than he should bloody well say so, instead of fannying about.

He could be on holiday with his family at this time of year, and doesn't want to discuss contracts until he gets back

Reid only signed his deal after coming back from Australia

I assume you are talking about our destruction of the mighty Orient, or ten-men Forest, when you suggest that player of the season Hammond was at his best only with Bertin alongside him....

I see where youre coming from, the first sentence of my last post was a little harsh on reflection  Players should want to play for the club etc but the reality is there are better clubs out there who can potentially offer better deals longer contracts etc. Put yourself in his position, moving country with his young family and I think he speaks little english so its a big move for him and he needs to make sure he gets the best deal he can if he decides to stay.

there are very few players who want to play for the clubs they are at. if he thinks he can get a better offer from somewhere else, which if the 1 grand story is true than he certainly should be able to do, then fair play to him. would you not do the same thing?

If he thinks he's capable of better, then he should reject our offer, instead of having the nerve to treat us as a last resort, despite the fact that we've (from what i've heard) put a LOT of effort into signing him.

I cant even remember if they were paired together or not but the bottom line is that with bertin shielding the back four we are more solid at the back. He reads the game well and his positional sense is superb, with him holding back it allows Hammond to get forward and get into the box where can be pretty dangerous. El abd also allows that but his passing and general play aren't as strong as Bertins.
