I really hope i have egg on my face, and he's more than the ordinary midfielder that i think he is, but i honestly can't see it happening.

But in my opinion a player should WANT to play for a club who's made (by all accounts) the BEST possible offer they can, rather than keeping us as a back-up last resort and leaving us in the limbo. If he doesn't want to sign than he should bloody well say so, instead of fannying about.

If he thinks he's capable of better, then he should reject our offer, instead of having the nerve to treat us as a last resort, despite the fact that we've (from what i've heard) put a LOT of effort into signing him.

so basically what you are saying is that people should never be allowed the chance to further their careers?

We had 2 defeats (Brentford and Bristol City) in the 10 games when Hammond and Bertin were paired with each other

P10 W3 D5 L 2

Hardly something to write home about. And i don't think Bertin allowing Hammond to go forward against Forest, Orient or the Gills were the reasons we won. Orient we DESTROYED, the Forest goals were from a set piece and a Ward solo effort, and Gills was all about Savage.

I've no idea how 'good he thinks he is', but I tell you, he's the best and most important player that we [possibly] have. He isn't an Albion fan - he's entitled to look around for other offers. Pray he signs in the end, because none of Oatway, Rehman, Fraser or El Abd have 50% of his ability.

Spot on. Bertin should be our top earner if there is any link between ability and wages.

gillingham we won 1-0 - the defensive side of our game that day was far more important than savage. who was the defensive midfield playere that day?

No, if they want to further their careers, then they should do so and say so, instead of joining a club they don't really want to play for unless they have to.:)

It's all about balance and Bertin gave that to our squad which we have been lacking badly

The same defensive midfielder that played 15 games this season, 4 of which we won.

So let's let Bertin go and replace him with Oatway.

:D:D:D

Did i say that?
He's a capable midfielder, but i don't think he's as good as virtually everyone on here makes out, in the same way that i don't think Mayo is as bad as virtually everyone on here makes out.

But as i've said about 5 times now, if he doesn't want to sign, then he should say so, instead of using us as his safety option just in case he can't actually find anyone else.

so why should he HAVE to turn down our offer just because he is waiting for another one?

did you do the same thing for uni, and accept an offer before you knew the full scope of what would be available to you. would you do the same with a job and not wait and see if you could earn more money and work at a better place?

Keep things simple for Potter please

Bertin no doubt knows that he can do a lot lot better than the Albion. With no disrespect to most of our players, however, I doubt whether many other clubs would offer them a better deal than they've currently got. I don't see clubs many in the queue for Kerry, Harty and Charlie par example.

9 of which we didnt lose - and a run that effectively kept us up

with defeats against a team who would get promoted, and 4 teams who were chasing the play-offs by which team we were all but safe anyway

hes on holiday (as said in the argus and the website). Don't see any problem with him looking for the best deal anyway he has to look after No 1. Sure an announcement will be made sooner rather than later so we can look at other options for July
