I travel via Handcross Hill for home games. After the Peterboro game we got "nudged" from behind by a lorry who wanted us to speed up. I put my hazards on and slowed to 30 to wind him up further. No way am I getting uneccessary speeding points.

I got rid of my car recently, and the attitudes shown on this thread are some of the reasons why. I really don't want to be on the road when other drivers are doing the mental working out of how, and by how much, they can break the traffic laws, instead of how they can stay within them, and show consideration for fellow road users

Do they work at night? They don't appear to have floodlights near the cameras to illuminate number plates in the dark as they did on the M25.

Personally I'd like to see a review of speed limits overall and have such things as 20mph limit in towns & 80mph on motorways in dry (60 in the wet)

They could do with putting some average speed cameras up on the A27 between Lancing and the flyover, most people seem to ignore the 30 and 40 mph speed limits on there now. And yes, it is dangerous to go faster as they tend to change the overnight lane layouts quite regularly.

I make it a point to never know who is driving my car I have no respect for speed limits.

A few years back I got a ticket for speeding in London (flashed by a camera). I responded saying it was a company car (which it was) and that we did not keep a record of who was driving it. They wrote back and said we had to keep records. I replied "well, we don't". Never heard any more.

To be fair to the rest of NSC, I don't think it's people, I think it's just me.
I didn't say that. Some speed limits are lower than what is nice and safe, others are higher. The fact that you can drive at 60 on a twisty country lane, where you can barely pass an on-coming vehicle, while there are decent A roads with lower speeds limits is a joke.

Some local built up areas have just had their limit reduced to 20mph. Is 30mph on those roads unsafe, and if so, what speed would you have driven on them before the limit was reduced? Would you have driven at the unsafe limit of 30, or would you have used your common sense and driven at 20?

But a limit is just that - it is not a target you have to meet, or exceed. Judge your speed to the road conditions, time of day, weather, etc.

Basically, use a bit of common sense.

Sometimes, there are lines on the ground before/after the actual camera, hence my question!
