That loophole was due to the introduction of the new regs on March 1st 2024. Not applicable now.

Are you sure? I thought the deadline was June 1st previously but was put back to allow clubs more time to get their ducks in a row (which means the Man U Nice situation doesn't set a particularly helpful precedent for Palace)

However, from what I've read, there's not much of chance Forest being barred despite being late with their paperwork.

If it was just last year that the deadline was changed to give clubs 3 more months, it seems a little soft to let them get away with it

Palace have until 01/07 to put shares into a blind trust. The club will have been well aware of the possibility of this happening & will be prepared for it.

I'm sure Palace being demoted to the Conference League would be the funniest thing ever to happen for Brighton fans, but I think you'll be disappointed on this occasion.
Not the first deadline you lot have missed so...🤞

The court case finished months ago. If the result was 'no case to answer, charges dropped', then why on earth wouldn't they have just said that? Why delay the announcement? I imagine they've delayed so that all teams played against a City that was trying.
Not the worst call.

I wonder if it will be announced and City will suck up any deduction, just to draw a line underneath it…… perhaps I’m just naive…..😞

I agree with you, but I just don't understand why a date has not been issued.
The media were put on alert that we would know in March.
Since then near radio -silence on the matter.

MY guess is the CIty Group lawyers are making it clear exactly how long they are prepared to drag this out and testing the Premier League's resolve.
Ultimately it will be the other 19 footing the bill for the lawyers, suspect we will get to a point where 14 of them don't care what happens to City.

I suppose it depends on how much the punishment is, and whether they think they can win an appeal. If it's enough points to get them relegated, then surely they have to appeal. If it's a suspicious 43 points (or whatever keeps them up), perhaps they know an appeal won't stop them missing Europe, so they'll take it

I think the media (and maybe some inside City) thought it would be March, but the court/PL didn't say that.

Since then near radio -silence on the matter.

I think we're just waiting for the decision and until it arrives, there's nothing to report.

MY guess is the CIty Group lawyers are making it clear exactly how long they are prepared to drag this out and testing the Premier League's resolve.

I don't think City get any say in this until they, along with the rest of us, hear the verdict. The delay in hearing is not due to them.

'It's all too much, for me to take..' (courtesy Beatles/Hillage/All and sundry), but as amazing as it would be if this happened - or indeed, that another combo of results went our way to pave the way into Europe, you know what will happen?
We'll lose to Spurs and Brentford will take 8th spot, thus rendering all this utterly pointless.
Literally.
It's the Brighton way.
(That said, I'm clinging to every vestige of hope that's available, like a bog-roll hunter during COVID.)

I think the Brighton way is for it all to fall into place this weekend and Chelsea shaft us next week, on what will be one of the only times we'd be wanting them to win a game.

Betis are a decent side and they've been assisted by the Spanish FA moving their last league game forward by a couple of days, giving them more time to prepare for the final.

Chelsea have what is essentially a must-win Champions League play-off on Sunday afternoon, and then have the final on Wednesday night, with little rest/recovery time.

My second 'least favourite' scenario.
Still, it's been a good season overall, despite the 'what could of beens'.

Oh f*** yes.

I'm sure they'll find a way around it, but could you imagine if they got banned and their place went to next in league!
I hope Palace don't banned for my own sake!

I just don't think I'd survive the subsequent fit of laughter! I'd be at risk of laughing so hard that many of my internal organs would be ejected. I don't think I'd cope with the hilarity.

I'm not sure I've seen it on here amongst the permutations and calculations, but are people aware, and correct me if I'm wrong, that if everything falls into place then we only qualify for a play off?

All the stars could align, we sully ourselves supporting Chelsea for a night, but with half the squad out with chronic seasickness from the ferry to Athletico Svalbard we might be out before the league stages!

Correct. Just a play off game prior to the 8 league games.

Just chatgpteed it.

Oh god oh god oh god. Please dear lord above. Please make this come to pass.
Unlikely and would be extreme, I’m afraid.

Citeh and Manure had the same issue of infringing UEFA multiple ownership rules and simply transferred the shares of one of their Clubs into a blind trust for the duration of their respective UEFA season. Those shares will be transferred back to the original investors once the season is ended..even though the deadline has past, I think Palace will be able to argue for an extension (as they qualified after the deadline and it’s not like they were anywhere near a EPL qualifying place either like Forest were) and will still be able to make a transfer of shares - I think they will also argue successfully Textor does not have a controlling share in the Club.

When City was banned for breaching FFP rules in 2020, it was immediately overturned by CAS and all they had was a €10m fine for much more serious allegations.

Odds have dropped from 5.89/1 to this since last nights game.

Also if Brentford do not win, it’s 4/1.
