Yes but the original article said that the deadline for ownership change was March 1st. The guardian article about marianakis is April 30th, presumably he missed the deadline?

If he did why is it okfor them but not for palace?
Yeah, the change was effective on April 29th, nearly two months after the deadline.

Article is dated April 30th. But that is irrelevant. What is relevant (and not mentioned in the article) is when the paperwork for the ownership change was submitted. Given the way the article is worded, I would assume the paperwork was in ahead of deadline and then only came to light later on (it takes time for things like this to filter through to the public domain).
I hope you're right.

Oh. So Palace might get away with it then.

I won't hold my breath but if palace get kicked out of Europe for this, it'd be a very amusing end to the season. I imagine there's almost definitely a way around it though.

Palace have until 01/07 to put shares into a blind trust. The club will have been well aware of the possibility of this happening & will be prepared for it.

I'm sure Palace being demoted to the Conference League would be the funniest thing ever to happen for Brighton fans, but I think you'll be disappointed on this occasion.

Hang on, so that would open the possibility of us meeting Palace in the Conference League final a year from now? :)

Made up crap unlike the March 1st deadline.

The new regulation came into force from March 1st 2024. Hence compliance by that date each year. No mention of July

Really?

You think The Premier League growing a pair, is more likely than the 10/1 (ish) shot of us getting into the conference league?

I can't see it myself.

The court case finished months ago. If the result was 'no case to answer, charges dropped', then why on earth wouldn't they have just said that? Why delay the announcement? I imagine they've delayed so that all teams played against a City that was trying.

Submission was 29/04/25

However this might have been after notifying intent prior to March 1st

I’m hoping you follow the same timeline as you have for your super duper new stand, in regards to putting shares into a blind trust by 01/07.

Announced in 2017, opened in 2021,(pending).

Should shift the shares about March 2026, by my reckoning.

It seems like the Blind Trust loophole can he used after the deadline, as seen in the INEOS case last year. They got it done by July so presumably that's the precedent Palace, and their fans, will be looking at.

Brighton factually.....

In fairness, although it would be funny, I would rather they play in Europe now, I am over there win in the cup, shocking result, VAR, and game that it was.....

They could well crash and burn next season, if the manager pisses off and so do the star players, and the owners just cash in the clubs success and eat the profits.

That loophole was due to the introduction of the new regs on March 1st 2024. Not applicable now.
