If @Seagull Stew is right then Lineker and BBC are wrong, as they just said that is definitely the case on TV.

If Chelsea win conference and finish 6th or 7th, UECL will go down to 8th.
The FA cup winners plus the side placed one position below the last team to qualify for the champions league, qualify for the Europa League.

Only if the FA cup winners already have European qualification, does another team qualify for the Europa League by being two places below a champions league position.

This is no longer the case, therefore only one team qualifies for the Europa league because of their league position. Now, the team next placed in the premier league qualifies for the Europa Conference.

However, if Chelsea win the conference league, then they qualify for the Europa League. But if they are already in a Europa league place or champions league place, then it is as you were.

If Chelsea finish the season in the conference league position then they qualify for the conference league next season. However, if they win the conference league, then they upgrade it to the Europa League and there is no one in England who can play in the conference league, because everyone who can qualify for Europe has already qualified for the more “senior” tournament.

Ok, I found the relevant UEFA regulation. BBC is definitely incorrect. If Chelsea win the Conference League, there’ll be no English club playing in it next season.

So yeah, our season is done.

Not happening

And also *definitely* not happening, this season anyway.

We had an incredible chance of achieving European football, in a season where two of the ‘Big Six’ were unbelievably bad, something very unlikely to happen again, and we completely and utterly blew it.

That’s where drawing 1-1 at home to the second worst team in Premier League history, and blowing TWO two goal leads after the 85th minute, gets you.
This, unfortunately. We blew it totally ourselves . Far too many points dropped when in winning positions.

…..ignoring the last minute winners etc
If we’d won all the matches we won and also won all the matches we didn’t we’d probably be in Europe I reckon

I may be one of the few NSC posters that really doesn't mind no European Football next season?

Given the current side we have I think we would get pasted almost every game.

Keep on improving the squad and also think hard about how we can go further than 9th or 10th in the Premier League in 2025/26.

Not sure you’ve understood that correctly.

English teams have 2 Conference League spots allocated at the start of the season : League cup winners and one from league position.

So if that is reduced to one spot because Chelsea win it then who gets it?

Is it just me that finds it odd that UEFA would allow a Conference League without an English team? Maybe they will issue an edict from above that because everyone hates Palace they will allow the eighth place team to go into the CL. And then Brentford claim it!

I don’t think that’s the case. We usually have two places. If Chelsea win it then two places decrease by one to one place. (I’m good at maths).
