It doesnt matter where he goes, Brighton would be owed a fee, have Brighton suddenly become rich?

there are not going to be any champiosnhip level clubs who are going to sign a player who has mustered only 9 goals in two seasons as a first team regular, especially as he was a miserable failure at sheffield wednesday at the same level - and after claiming he was as good as defoe, it is not very likely that he is going to want to drop down divisions

Wed went down that year and Brighton could this.
not really great sides.

It won't matter if we loose Leon, the little twat at the end of the season, because CKR seems to be showing signs of a emerging legend. But I think the publicity he is getting of the 'coca-cola kid' has stopped him reaching is full potential this season.

Wait until next season.

even more reason why he should be shining really, as there are few really good players to take the limelight

when we went down, zamora still managed to score 15 goals despite missing quite a bit of the season

Leon showed signs of am "emerging legend". The publicity of being the "next Bobby Zamora" didn't effect him in the slightest in his first season.....

Since McGhee joined, It's gone tits up for Leon

The missing ingredient that McGhee is trying to add to Leon's game, which would make him a much better player than he currently is, is more runs off defenders so Leon presents more of a target for our midfield and his lack of pace becomes less of an issue. This is not even an issue of workrate, it's one of footballing intelligence in being able to anticipate openings that your team-mates can make for you.

Until he convinces McGhee he can do this, it will be a bad idea to pair him with CKR, who has similar problems but is at least rolling up his sleeves to work on them.

I actually agree with you to a certain extent, he should make more runs off defenders but isn't his lack of work rate and unwillingness to work on his game (i.e his tactical awareness/intelligence) one of the main reasons for this.

i cannot believe we would release him thus having to pay up his contract. surely he would have to rot in the reserves if that was the case.
also people keep saying he is our top scorer. i would like to see minutes played to goals ratios before actually saying he is our best striker. surely he has played a hell of a lot more than ckr but isnt he only 2 goals in front.
if another of our strikers had played as many minutes as him then would they have scored as many goals or maybe even more?
i know we dont know the answer to that. but what we do know is that leon is not yet proven at this level.

goals per games ratio; games (as sub) goals

kazim- richards 12(12) 4
knight 22(1) 5
robinson 13(9) 2
mccammon 1(3) 1

so i would say minutes on pitch goals ratio would be big mac 1st,
ckr 2nd, knight 3rd robinson 4th. other strikers havent scored.

Yes he is. He is also, statistically speaking, a very poor goalscorer at this level. I have always been a big supporter of Leon against the Withdean whingers but I really don't understand why he is semi-worshiped by some on here. Yes he has got a few goals and assists this season and last, but so would OGH have done given the same number of games in those positions, what of it? If we are to do well in this division we need our strikers to achieve much better stats than Leon has done.

I was answering the bloke who claimed leon wasnt top goal scorer.

Thats all of them not just Leon.
I really doubt Hart would have scored five this season, let alone play half the balls that have created chances/goals.

So simplistic it's laughable, do you really believe it's all McGhee's fault?

Gary Hart is a real 100% player. Great servant and probably nice bloke. But he is not good enough at this level and he will NOT score goals from CF in the Championship, he will run around more than Leon though and apparently that is the main thing.

I don't think Knight is top class at this level either but he is the best we have on the books by far.
