Actually I think Archibald has a point, although I'm not sure he meant it. We do tend to only call them 'brave' after they have been killed. I would say they are all brave, living or dead.

As Santayana said, "those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it" - seems that the British government has some selective amnesia on this.

I can understand some of the thinking - there's a parent at my little boy's nursery who's an Afghan: the Taleban killed his parents, brother and uncle. He managed to get out and be awarded political asylum in the UK. It's very sad, there must be thousands of people like him - but there are also thousands in Burma, Zimbabwe, China and North Korea, should we be invading there too?

We just have no business in Afghanistan: simple as that

They were based in Afghanistan. They were supported & protected by the Taleban, and it was (and still is) essential they're tackled. I fully support troops staying there
