I dont even understand how you could leave your card in a shop

THEY GIVE IT TO YOU IN YOUR HAND

Aldi and other continental retailers don't have the staff handle the card at all - that is just a ridiculous British/Irish legacy. You put the card in the EMV unit yourself.

However, that makes it 100% your fault if you forget it - can't blame staff.

I left my card in the machine at BHS in Churchill Square a few months ago. I realised when I got home, rang them, & they had already locked it up in their safe.
I went back the following day to collect it and no harm done. It can easily happen.

I know she left it....but destroying it in less than 1 day is a bit OTT ( in my opinion)

oh and nothing wrong with Aldi food..

Everything wrong with Aldi food. We've been trying the Lewes store recently and at first all seemed well but the fruit and veg has been going off incredibly quickly. No shelf life at all. Sub-standard.

Wifey left her card in Aldi yesterday at 5pm, noticed it was missing today at 9am.....contacted Aldi (0844 number no direct calling allowed to store) took 15 mins on hold,
eventually get through to store and the manager tells my wife that he shredded the card this morning before the store opened, due to security issues.!!!

Is less than 1 working day sufficient time to let the lost card owner get it back before shredding?

Tescos (from experience) I know hold them for 72 hours...

Bunch of tw@ts.........

Should I complain as it now takes a few days to sort out a replacement or just let it go?

Rant over..

I'd get a punch in the face if I used the term wifey

I cancel cards as soon as I miss them just in case - even though a couple of times I have found them an hour later, which by then was too late. :dunce:

I wouldn't have relied on just getting it back as who knows who has copied the details for on-line and phone purchases. If somebody has all the details including the security number on the back, you are stuffed if the card is still live.

Why the keenest to cancel cards so quickly?
There no good to anyone without the pin
