Never was, never have been. He was always totally conceited and arrogant without having the credentials here to justify it. :salute: (Apart from writing a nice letter saying how important is was we got Falmer. "Gee, no shit, Sherlock")

Filed under 'JUST HOW WRONG CAN ERNEST GET?', Coppell treated Dick Knight and the club like shit. The reason Coppell didn't start the season here was because he consistently missed meetings (meetings Coppell himself called) leaving the club more and more in the lurch. In the end, Dick had to employ SOMEONE. That someone, as you so delicately put it, was Tinselhead who, but for the first two games, was a total disaster.

Little Scouse bastard walked out on us for a big payday in the end anyway.
*PEDANT ALERT*
Alan, you seem to have got the ex-Palarse wankers mixed up.Hinshelwood followed Peter Taylor(ex-Palarse wanker) not Steve Coppell (even more of an ex-Palarse wanker)
Coppout took over after Tinselhead

Well I don't have a problem with Reading and in fact I applaud them for how well they've done and are doing. The acts of a handful of fans when they've played us are not any different to some of the things I've seen our fans do.

Strangely (and not for the first time) I find myself agreeing with Dwayne, people on here are jealous of them.

Coppell was interviewed in the summer though.
Not sure about any missed meetings as the choice then was the Cameroon manager who turned up at Gatwick and changed his demands leaving DK with an embarassing press conference to try and sort out.
Hinsh stepped into the breach.

It appears I misunderstood TLO's post.
Humble apologies grovellingly offered

Fans chants are to be expected, but I always thought there was something of an unwritten rule that announcers don't tend to take the piss out of opponents when they score own goals. However lame and embarrassing Oatway's attempt to clear was.

I can remember the PA pulling that kind of crap at Pompey a long time back, 4 days later Chelsea trashed the place after similar treatment. Cant clubs be reported for that these days?

Reading have shown how it should be done from a business model perspective. Their crowds have steadily grown, they are able to attract ambitious players, and the stadium is excellent.

All this 'our club is bigger than your club' nonsense is embarrassing.

Reading fans irritate me intensely with their smug, 'large it up' attitude. Royal Ali is typical of their fanbase: if anyone criticises any part of their club they cries 'jealousy.'

My brother and my best mate up here are both staunch Reading fans, and much of the time they do nothing but moan about their players. According to them the jury is still out on Sidwell, Lita isn't much good, nor is Harper, Kitson regularly comes in for stick despite his goals, etc. etc.

Is it any wonder they don't sing at home even when they're 4 goals up?

Madjeski is by his own admission not a football man, but he didn't want to see the town without a football club, and at one stage was bunging 40k a week of his own money into the club to keep them afloat.

They've been lucky in that there is no shortage of brown field sites in the area where the stadium is built. Anyone who knows Reading will know about Whitley: crappy little shithole part slum-part industrial park.

But all that doesn't make them any more than an average club who got lucky. When they've spent time in the Premiership, and I don't mean 1 season with single figure points, been to Wembley for an F.A. Cup Final, and won back to back championships, then they can sneer at us.

Until then they can shut the f*** up.

The other problem with this thread of course is that they do actually want people to be jealous of them. And we are giving them ammunition.

They are top, and not by accident, but I must confess to being more than a little put-out by the announcer for their first goal. And as much as I was quite angry with McGhee on Saturday for his selection and tactics, I did totally agree with his post match comments.

They also didn't have a come back to the "Where were you when you were shit??" chant, which in my view was totally relevant.
