I spoke to you after YOU got up and moved away from the corner.

But the man you'd have replaced him with is Sunderland-bound.Easy 10 said:If it'd been up to me, I'd have sacked him for gross incompetence four years ago.
Be that as it may, we would now be World and European champions (please don't argue the toss over this, we both know this to be fact).Silent Bob said:But the man you'd have replaced him with is Sunderland-bound.![]()

I havn't the time to go into it all at this point, but trust me, it would've happened. And you can't prove otherwise.Kinky Gerbils said:do we how?

Billy the Fish said:Very defensive aren't you. No one has mentioned a target man, no one has mentioned Wayne Rooney. The season is nearly upon us and we haven't strengthened the squad in any way. Yet again we've signed a youngster and have a few trialists who will dissappear soon, never to be heard of again.

Dougal said:although if he really is a manager who plays attractive football then perhaps this is one of the things we did wrong as last year we clearly never set out to do this
No thank god, because we don't have the players to play such an adventurous style, we must be more balanced and pragamatic than that - and look particularly at how we got the play-offs last time with a very strong defensive spine and a forward line that could put away chances.Silent Bob said:If he's attempting to sign Dichio that hardly indicates he's looking to play fast free-flowing football next season does it?
London Irish said:What criteria are you using here?
Turnover or income?
Profit/losses?
Wages budget?
Pick one - and then could you source some figures that explain how we are better off than 80 per cent of the other clubs in this league. I'm not saying you are wrong, I just want to see the evidence you are relying on to form this opinion.
If you are using attendance as a guide, then that's a flawed comparison as we have far higher overhead costs in renting Withdean than the other clubs that own their own ground.
I am personally very sceptical given our unique difficulties with Withdean and the amount we have to spend on planning costs/court cases that we are in the top 6 of spending power in this division.
But I could be wrong and would love for someone to prove otherwise, because it would cheer me up no end.

Rougvie said:OK, not wanting to droan on, but our 5 or so 'top earners' are on comparable money to the other clubs in L2 some even on comparable with the bottom end of the CCC, I know for a fact that no one has been asked to take a pay cut, so that leaves a 'top' salary available with the departure of Carole, it certainly wouldnt be a million miles away from £2500 a week all tolled if my information is correct which is not to be sniffed at.
Leon Knight was also never really replaced so I wonder where his 'top' salary went to. OK it doesnt help with 2 big earner's in Dodd and Oatway were out for a lot of the season, but now another 'top' salary has gone with Dodd, and what was 'top earner' Kerry Mayo's contribution to last season, and indeed what is McGhee's plans for him this season ?
Problem with McGhee logic is that he thinks that bringing in a load of young players on the combined salary of one player who has left is good business.
It isnt, its a false logic as since he has been here he has not been able to replace like for like and the Quality of the side as a whole is poor, whether that is because of his contacts or reputation I dont know.
All I say to anyone questioning the wage bill is look for other reasons why we cant attract players. As someone who has known a good few pro players down the years, dont even start on the bullshit about the facilities, because as long as the money is in the bank on a Friday, they AINT interested in anything else.
