Of course it's to do with the club - they need to get a better manufacturer (like errea) as Nike are clearly not up to it.
wonder how Nike does it do they have 5 different designs and send them to the club and they chose 1 or do Nike say this is the shirt we have chosen

Completely understand American Express insisting on the white block background upon the stripes, and as it is their logo it is their choice that the lettering is not centred. What I cannot get my head round is their directive that the block is 'off white/cream', have never noticed it was not pure white in any of their other advertising, forces Nike to use a crappy stick on panel, and it looks sxxt! Come on Amex, why?

The away is teamwear. There's no effort at all in slapping the badge on a teamwear shirt. It's just a money printing machine. I think they should have at least gone for a monochrome badge to show they're at least trying to customise it a little like many other teams have done.... but no, we get last years away kit in black. Wonderful.

The home is meh. It doesn't look particularly good on it's own - it's fine. The red tick is weird given that it's not present on any of the other parts of the kit (that was obviously a step too far for Nike). The slap on panel is dire as always and the fact that it's so close to last seasons shirt makes me wonder if it will sell as well to be honest. Even the kids who lap up anything with a tick on it might not be so eager to break down the shop doors for this one.

I think why some are pissed off about the panel is that we've gone from such a great manufacturer who seemed to put the fans first, to one who's sole purpose is income generation.

I wish we had Umbro...

When does our contract with Nike end? We need a manufacture that'll accommodate AM's logo into the fabric. This kit won't sell well I shouldn't think

'Long term' deal whatever that means.

We are only in year 3 :nono:

Although the volt, black and orange kits are decent, and the scarlet not bad, the home shirts with their stick on logo has been very poor. I'll be waiting until the peel away logo is binned before I get another home kit even if that's 10 years away.

I do not think this is the case as the Errea shirt with Amex on the front used the standard white background of the shirt not the 'off white' on the stick on panel.

The plain white back wil look terrible, if last season's Newcastle shirt was anything to go by. All that bullcrap about it being inspired by the Mullery promotion team kit is embarrassing. Peter Ward wore a shirt with a striped back, the red number on a white panel. Not difficult to duplicate. I may be wrong but I think I read that no striped backs will be permitted next season. That's progress, is it?

Don't think me rude, but you're wrong. It will sell, and it will sell in the thousands.

Football fans are a largely captive audience. For a shirt to really bomb, it would have to be absolutely hideous, or have something about it that really, really pisses supporters off in droves. This one doesn't, in the main. It's not breathtaking, but nor is it on that level that people would boycott for some reason. People will buy them for their kids whatever it looks like, and those who always buy themselves one will continue to do so.

They could come up with a brilliant design one day which would be a best seller, of course. Maybe this one won't be the best seller ever, but they certainly won't struggle to shift them.

I don't like the plain backs on striped shirts (the previous kit was the same)- I can't see why they won't just use a largish panel instead of a completely plain back.

That said, I'm well aware of the difficulty reading numbers and names on striped backs. Surely SOME science boffin in the world can come up with some sort of visual wizardry that allows striped shirts but with readable numbers?

You can disagree, and call me wrong (in your opinion) without being rude, so don't worry about that.

In regard to your post - I respectfully disagree. A kit can sell thousands, but still not be considered to have sold well when compared to the # of kits sold in previous seasons. That'll be the case here I think. It'll sell thousands, but more than previous years? I'm not convinced. People just don't like that stupid sticker.

Some system on the line of a row of (pre-untangled) Christmas (or Winter Holiday) tree lights would work?

Flashing would make it even clearer for easy reading of nos. and names.

I like the black away shirt but the home is IMO the worst home shirt for some years! The red numbers look terrible (stay clear of red and blue FFS) the slap on badge, while I understand is unavoidable, looks cheap and the kit its self lacks any trim. Last years was much Better.
