[Albion] Two players taking the same corner?

And as somebody else said on here, if it's that hotshot an idea, why not have three players take the corner? Or four? Or eleven?

Because that would be silly? Two on the other hand is a perfectly viable idea, far better than our previous short corner and back to the GK routine.

It's a symptom of the loss of confidence... someone to chat with, compare notes before firing in the corner or free kick.

Exactly my thoughts. No one likes to be stuck out on their own, but get your buddy over clearly boosts confidence. Potter really is on another planet when it comes to player management.

Because people don't have three feet.

Christ, it can't be that hard.

The possibility or there being an inswinger or an outswinger means that the defenders are less able to anticipate how to defend.

A third person wouldn't improve this as there isn't a third way of swinging the ball in.

This principle has been used on free kicks for ages. It's rarer on corners, but not unheard of. GP has rightly seen that we're too predictable (as evidenced by the fact that 95% of our corners this season have been cleared unchallenged) and tried to do something different.

There's a similar principle at play in spin bowling in cricket. If you have a spinner who can genuinely get the ball to spin either way, it's a massive threat as you can't prepare a defence in the same way as when you can predict the movement of the ball

This is just getting silly now. Just because our house benny from scando div 6 or whatever does some hilariously stupid twist on a corner that patently delivers zero advantage and in effect leaves us one man short for a rare set piece, really really doesn't make it anything other than the daft thing it was to start with. Feel sadly sorry for anyone daft enough to buy into this daftest of daft things

I'll leave you to get on with your deep thinking

Can you be offside from a corner?
If two players are stood in the corner area, the ball is furthest away from the goal line within the triangle, both players are goal line side of the ball, one taps it for the other to swing it over, would the second player be offside? My thoughts are two oppo players on the goal line but the attacking player would be over the line prior to wacking the ball over.

No offence

There is no offside offence if a player receives the ball directly from:
a goal kick
a throw-in
a corner kick

Of course - should such an occasion ever arise

Come on then, don’t keep the good people of NSC waiting? You said very clearly having two men on the corners was daft and offered, and I quote “zero advantage”. And yet today it led directly to our second goal.

Let’s hear it loud and clear?!?!

That approach that you call daft just directly contributed to us scoring a goal from a corner. You have been made to look a total mug and you aren’t even man enough to hold your hands up and admit it.

We have looked much better from corners in the last three games. Face it, Potter made a change and it is working.

Yes, huge credit to Potter for making this change.

Now if he could just make a change to the way we defend corners, i'd be really impressed

Wouldn't stay up too long tonight waiting for an admission. The bloke has displayed the critical analysis ability of a clam so far on this thread
