i think we tried to learn something from the Leicester game (and learnt it wrongly). Leicester short corners had us at 6s and 7s.

You can tell who is going to take the corner from where the ball is placed, so I don't see it causes that much confusion. All I see it doing is taking an extra player off the field of play potentially reducing our chance of scoring.

No you can't.. Look at where the ball is placed in the screenshots posted earlier, either player can easily take it.
What's that all about then? definitely looks like something new off the training ground, but I can't really see how it creates any confusion or gives us an advantage. Just seems like a waste of a man to me
just get it in the box ffs!

Nearly scoring seems slightly better than nearly not scoring to me.

Having 2 players on the corner allows for 3 variations, in swinging, out swinging and short, all of which force the opposition to set up differently.
As for "wasting time in training", they are full time footballers, an extra 5 minutes on this set piece is not going to be detrimental..

without reading any of the rest its a no from me , Potter might be trying to evolve the game but considering how many set pieces we concede from i think the penny should drop and we need to smash these corners in the vicinity of the penalty area and see what happens .....short corners are a joke for us.

So, to sum up then: you willingly reduce your team to ten men for the duration of a set piece that you you were never much cop at with eleven players on the pitch? Good luck with that one

We're trying to walk the ball into the box and far too often trying 'cute' little tricks that rarely ever pull off; the complexity in some of our play is often our downfall. For example, playing out from the back - teams press us and we'll pass back to our keep who lumps it back up field, lose possession then on the back foot. It happens with Ryan and it happened against Sanchez last night.
I hate the term "back to basics" but we really do need to get back to them in order to build the momentum going forward. We do look devoid of ideas and confidence half the time.

They do because the player that took the kick each time always put their hand up before they took it to indicate what was happening. And everyone was an out swinger.

Whatever way you view them, last night's corners were a distinct upgrade on the tried and tested short corner back-to-Ryan-in-6-passes routine.

Trossard/March aren't going to win a header anyway.
The fact they are both there draws at least one defender, probably two out from the middle.
It also gives us the option to play short.
It's a positive move. I want to see us do more of it. It also shows GP is thinking out of the box to counteract our weaknesses

No. As others have said, they are having to be more on their toes as they have no idea if it will be swinging in inwards or outwards.
Our boys will know, as undoubtedly there's a signal in there somewhere.

Because people don't have three feet.
Christ, it can't be that hard.
The possibility or there being an inswinger or an outswinger means that the defenders are less able to anticipate how to defend.
A third person wouldn't improve this as there isn't a third way of swinging the ball in.
This principle has been used on free kicks for ages. It's rarer on corners, but not unheard of. GP has rightly seen that we're too predictable (as evidenced by the fact that 95% of our corners this season have been cleared unchallenged) and tried to do something different.
There's a similar principle at play in spin bowling in cricket. If you have a spinner who can genuinely get the ball to spin either way, it's a massive threat as you can't prepare a defence in the same way as when you can predict the movement of the ball
