You'd think Bournemouth would have had the £1.1m release clause at least increased, otherwise he could still leave in this window. Since he's signed a new deal this month, before seeing what offer he could get from the likes of QPR, I'm not convinced he's been totally money grabbing.
Yes, it's...
Some people didn't seem to understand what the buyout clause meant. It meant that if Grabban wanted to leave, he could have. Bournemouth couldn't stop him, if that's what he wanted. If goes without saying that he could choose to stay, no one ever said otherwise. You don't appear to have foreseen...
But, but, I want to know now! And then when it's been announced, I want to know who we're getting next. And when we know that, I want to know who else we're getting. And I want to know it all now. Mummy!
If Grabban went to QPR, I doubt he'd play as a striker. Do QPR have scouts, or they just watch SSN and then bid on everyone that's already been bid on?
I've never been a Barnes detractor (but then I support all of our players that at least try), but he's not looked like he can take us to the next level. We could have got promoted with him as part of the team, but we really need better. I'm not sure if Grabban will be better, but at least...
Well Eddie certainly doesn't know what's being said at the Amex, so it's not signed 'til it's signed - but he talks about the fact he's gone to the Amex, and about the team moving on and them replacing him. I guess it's obvious that he'd talk like that when a player is having talks with another...
Did you recognise the number, or was it one of those mystery texters? If you know who the text was from, are they trustworthy, and likely to be at the Amex today, or are they likely to be winding you up?
And Barnes only had 6 months left on his contract. Barnes + 350k, getting a couple of years rather than 6 months seems reasonable to me.
Although I don't think it's a waste of money, a club offering someone a contract will want the release clause to be higher than they think the player is worth...
I think you're doing well.
Clubs like ours will never see the back of it. Even clubs like Everton and Spurs have to sell their best players when Man U et al come knocking.
We're used to the feeling of losing our best players too #sameboat
Cheers.
Good point.
No, WE are all money grabbing. We'd all do the same thing. The proof that we'd all do the same thing, is that everyone does it. We lost Murray to Palace, and we didn't even get a fee. He went for more money...
Exactly. It's not relevant that Bournemouth don't need to sell him, it's not up to them if there's a release clause.
All that means is that the player could turn us down, which of course he could.
The fact is, a release clause means it's not up to Bournemouth. They can simply offer him money to...
