Generally, on NSC, when people say "FACT." it is an implied "I know this isn't actually a fact in the strictest definition of the word, I just believe strongly about this opinion/guess/prediction/interpretation". I think most people who voted god does not exist. FACT. were voting with that...
The same way we can watch 'Most Haunted Live' and still not believe in ghosts, the same way we can watch Derren Brown and not believe in magic or psychic powers. The same way religious people can watch documentaries on evolution and still believe creation theory

As I said earlier in the thread, I, and I'm sure others, realise this is NSC where "FACT!" doesn't actually mean 'fact' in the traditional sense, and voted with this in mind.
Both are decisions. Both involve the individual having multiple options and picking one. Either God affects our decisions or he doesn't. You can't pick and choose where he draws a line just to suit your own arguments.
What makes you think the doctors made the decision because they wanted to...
The crusades shaped cultures and relations between religions and nations and that affects us today. They helped increase the wealth and power of christianity and the papacy which has affected christianity's position in the world through the ages. It has affected how the world views modern day...
(Supposedly) Jesus died almost 2000 years ago, are people who go on about him "living in the past"? No, of course not. Past events leave legacies and lessons that can continue to have an effect on society long after the event.
Which is why I question (not deny, just question) those stats. A christian kills 6 million jews and the technicality card is played and Christians trying to downplay the role of religion in wars say it's an ethnicity thing. A communist dictator kills someone and it's because of his godlessness.*...
I have just done a quick google search, and found this:
Are Most Wars the Result of Religious Belief?
and
What About Atrocities That Have Been Done in the Name of Religion
I would highlight this is a site that appears to be in favour of religion, so obviously is going to put a spin on it that...
I don't believe those are actual examples of faith. For me, faith has nothing to do with whether Rihanna will have a good concert or Murray win he US Open or Brighton get to the Premier League. They are about optimism and hope. They are about knowing what is possible (Rihanna will have...
Genuine question. Is the pope and his church's representatives in Africa still telling people not to use condoms to prevent the spread of aids, or are they still spreading the misinformation that condoms don't work like that?
And in 2011 (i.e. this year) that was down to (a youguv poll estimated) 34m (rounding up). You don't need to use outdated data, 34m is more han half the population of the country, a not insignificant number and perfectly respectable and fitting with the point you are trying to make.
