Every WSL match that isn't selected for TV by BBC or Sky is instead shown live on the FA Player (app or website) for free. https://faplayer.thefa.com/home/all
The delay to sale is purely because the date and time for any PL matches beyond 11th April have yet to be announced, for the same reason we cannot yet purchase Tottenham away tickets. It's not a sign a game will be televised.
I'd say there's little chance it would be the Saturday lunchtime slot even it was picked for TV. That's BT's slot, who are almost certain to pick whichever one of Arsenal v Man Utd or Liverpool v Everton Sky doesn't choose first.
Added to that, the Champions League Semis are the midweek after...
The formula over the past decade or two for picking TV games at R3 & 4 seems to be primarily "lower division at home vs (decent) Premier League team" and "blockbuster (big 6 v big 6) all-PL tie", then see who Manchester United and Liverpool are playing, as they are really the only two teams...
Another part of the reason why this can be played now is because that midweek was designated for FA Cup 3rd Round Replays - which have of course been scrapped.
Given we had 3 games to rearrange - all against teams still in either European competition or likely to go far in the domestic Cups...
Yes, it was supposed to start at 2am but previous overruns to the schedule pushed it to 2.10am and going 10 mins past the scheduled end time. Sky recordings should have continued, but if you're on Virgin Media, they don't bother updating their EPG so would have just cut off at the original time...
That's true but it's not so much the fixtures that cause the problems - it's where to put them. Because, as an example, if Amazon choose 4 games for the Thursday that impacts Sky and, particularly, BT because they then have fewer teams to be able to select on the following Saturday.
We know...
December's TV picks are currently the most complicated of the season due to; all 3 TV broadcasters being involved (the only month it includes Amazon), the highest number of rounds in a single month (7) and the public Holidays/policing limitations this time of year entails (which limit certain...
I'll give you Superstars - it is brilliant. But Grandstand shades it for me. It's so jaunty but builds throughout to a terrific crescendo. The tune should have been retained for some other sort of BBC Sport programme.
So good it was nicked by The Motors...
I’ve viewed a previous History Indoors talk about football in the 80s and it was very good, well informed and nicely communicated. Looking forward to this one.
Given the inexperience of much of this squad, I think Quarter Finals is an acceptable result.
However, with a potential for 6 England games at Wembley, that would feel somewhat of an underachievement and the Semi Finals should be the realistic aim for the quality we have.
I think Newcastle will win so whatever happens at Arsenal, they'll finish above us. Palace and Southampton to both lose heavily. I'd take a draw at Arsenal in order to get a new high points tally.
An Arsenal win, and both Tottenham and Everton failing to do so, will see them finish 7th and therefore a spot in the new Europa Conference League. Technically something to play for, although their desire to take part in that may be negligible. Sky are focussing primarily on the top 6 spots, so...
Just to add, that would only be the case for teams playing in the Champions League on the preceding Wednesday.
BT's main slot is still 12.30pm, but now have the flexibility to move their pick to 7.45pm to help out teams competing in Europe.
This is the first time the WSL TV rights deal has gone for a fee (£8million per year - equates to the rough cost of a single PL match). Previous deals have been given away, with the broadcaster just having to cover the cost of production. So this is a step in the right direction, as Albion will...
