Let’s hope you aren’t right, I like his brand of football much more than modern Pep, they’ve been great to watch this season and a big part has been my ability to tolerate the gaffer.
That’s the funny thing, seems a man of his principles. Before writing my post, I wanted to double check on his record this season and prior at other clubs, so I did a bit of a “background check”. He lost his rag at a referee this season, apologised publicly. Had a few similar at Feyenoord. I...
I know you know this, but sports media is produced for the largest possible market, which are naturally fans of the biggest clubs generally, or those who want to laugh at their rival’s demise. Hence that cretin Ornstein’s daily “X club/coach/star player in CRISIS!!!!11!!!eleven”.
Palace winning...
Thread title reminds me of a very funny bit (IMHO) in Some Mothers Do ‘Ave Em. Looked on YouTube and can’t find a clip, but essentially Frank is off to work, and takes a man bag I believe (very forward thinking) with his lunch in it. And Betty reassures him “Don’t worry Frank, you’ll look just...
Just to add what a breath of fresh air Arne Slot has been as well. Took the defeat in good grace (easy to do I suppose when you’ve walked the league), but I like his attitude generally and approach to the sport. Seems very intelligent and reasonable - obviously he’s human and will make mistakes...
Yeah - or Hazard tearing us a new one.
He looked quality last night, but it’s going to be a bumpy road next season with lots of ups and downs, he’s still a very young player playing in the most competitive top division in the world.
Let’s not all shit the bed when he has bad games and runs of...
The most notable one I can remember was Alexis Sanchez going in return for Mikhitarian (sp) - but even in recent days we’re said to have offered a player (Sima) plus cash deal for that other young Greek striker we’re after.
We’d agreed a player swap deal for Dewsbury-Hall in exchange for Moder...
Said this pre-match in the match thread. Was just a hunch, could see his quality and knew he’d be chomping at the bit to finally get a start in his best position.
My MOTM tonight, I thought he was absolutely terrific.

It was a clear free-kick. I think that was a cross, his face said it all afterwards. But regardless, our defending was dismal there, I was screaming at the screen to have two men out there. Awful set up and you’ll be punished against good players (lucky or otherwise) defending that badly
As others have said, I think JP is off - I can’t say I’m desperately sad, out of Baleba, Mitoma, JPVH, Georginio (and Rutter) Welbeck, Verbruggen, Hinshelwood and given his recent importance probably Webster too, he’s fairly low down on the list of players I am sad to see leave - even as a...
