Another one here with a ticket to jump on the Manchester Marathon fun bus in April! :bigwave: It looks like we have a nice little NSC Runners group representing! :ascarf:
Sorry to hear that. A developing of a hard bony lump on the back of the heel sounds like it's similar to Haglund's syndrome? Did any of the physios rule this out?
Common with runners, very painful and unfortunately I think it's difficult to treat in the short term, other than trying to...
Got an old pair or two of running shoes cluttering up your home? Runners Need are 'running' their "We Want Your Old Running Shoes" recycling promotion. Drop on old pair of running shoes in their shoe recycling bins at one of their stores and they'll give you a £20 voucher to go towards a new...
Thanks for the heads up Bozza! Some good Garmin HRM deals on Amazon at the moment. The Pro is their all singing all dancing (multi-discipline) HRM. The Run is very good for slightly less $.
If anyone is looking for a straight forward running HRM at an even more reasonable cost this Wahoo HRM...
Well done to all the Worthing 10k and Brighton Half Marathon NSC runners and anyone else that raced this weekend (Manchester / Chicago marathons?)
OMM gear is very nice indeed and their HALO jacket looks sweet. Very tempting.
I have the Salomon Bonatti running jacket which I really like - https://www.salomon.com/en-gb/shop-emea/product/bonatti-wp-jkt-m.html#color=59328
Super lightweight, waterproof & breathable. Keeps me warm and...
Great stuff! Have fun on the track. Working on the short stuff does help with the longer stuff as well. I'd just suggest mixing it up and not neglecting comfortable effort long (or medium-long) runs. They're the runs that really help to build our aerobic base.
RE: VDOT - big Jack...
To keep improving as best and for as long as I can really. And to stay healthy. Nothing fixed for next year but perhaps a spring marathon and then back to London next October. Maybe an England Age Group Masters selection would be fun.
Oh and I want to "go back to school" and get my England...
Thanks very much Badger!
With your sub 3 already in the bag you're not far off and I think you have every chance to go under 2:45. I won't bore you with training advice but I'd say Berlin next year would be an ideal goal race. Fingers crossed for a place! Gradually building up over...
Thanks so much!
With just the 5 marathons under my belt so far I'm still learning heaps and through a bit of hard work and staying positive when we hit a few bumps in the road I think it's great fun trying to see what can be achieved. Running changed my life for the better and I...
Fantastic running, well done! Huge congrats on the PB!
Yeah it's tricky for runners outside of the London area to make the trip to the expo before the busy Saturday collections.
Thanks very much! Feeling pretty wiped out and the legs are in bits but thankfully it's just the DOMS, nothing major. Might try to get out for a little shuffle tomorrow morning as I think that will help. Oh and I've been grazing on pretty much everything in the fridge since yesterday.
Thanks very much Simgull! Unless you have had a very difficult day I think it would be hard not to get a huge post-run buzz and overwhelmingly positive experience from running London. To be part of it is a really life-affirming experience. The event operational side of things is second to none...
Thanks so much G B !
Manchester will be epic! I'm thinking of maybe giving it a go too. Loved running it in 2019. Flat, fast and a great atmosphere.
hi guys, just thought I'd give a race report from yesterday's London Marathon. In summary, it was truly epic!
I woke up and headed to Blackheath feeling a little out of sorts in the stomach but thought it was just the nerves. I always get pretty nervous before races but this was more than...
