What are your LEGAL and within maritime Law suggestions for getting this “sorted”?1,183 people have arrived by boats (those who have been accounted for) since the 7th of May.
It's anyone's guess how many may have died along the way .
We need to get this sorted

I don't have all the answers - but it's s situation I think we both can agree can't continueWhat are your LEGAL and within maritime Law suggestions for getting this “sorted”?
This SITUATION is one of our own making.I don't have all the answers - but it's s situation I think we both can agree can't continue
We shall see what happens to the numbers over time, we have to hope Labour can get it under control. This SITUATION is one of our own making.
The Brexit vote was the start of it, then the "oven ready" deal that Boris promised, which actually turned out to be more of a dead parrot, bargaining away our rights to return, as we didn't need Johnny Foreigner anymore, as we were taking back control of our borders, reclaiming our sovereignty, making our own laws, blah, blah, blah...
And no, it can't continue - I believe over time the numbers WILL come down, with the actions the grown up government are taking, but like the saying goes, Rome wasn't built in a day!
All the while, Nigel will stand at the White Cliffs of Dover, pointing at boats, like some modern day King Canute.
We finally agree on somethingWe shall see what happens to the numbers over time, we have to hope Labour can get it under control.
BJ has a lot to answer for whilst Farage can just say that it hasn't his Brexit deal and it wouldn't of happened if he was PM
On one end of the scale, you have your Thatchers and Corbyns who have deep values and ideologies and will not bend an inch, even in the face of overwhelming voter pressure or common sense.
On the other end of the scale, you have your Boris Johnsons who will do and say anything if they think it's going to earn them more attention, money and most importantly, power.
Sir Keir needs to balance himself in-between these two leadership styles if he wants my vote in 4 years time.
The thing is - you keep telling us that you come on here to learn stuff through 'debating' and 'discussing'. But it seems to me that there isn't much of this from you. You quote things, but don't then go on to debate or discuss stuff when invited to expand and give your own thoughts. You must have learnt and read enough by now to have some idea of what you think might go towards an answer?I don't have all the answers - but it's s situation I think we both can agree can't continue

What policies do you think will help people in Afghanistan or Somalia?More than happy to answer -
We need more safe and legal routes for migrants to avoid the boat smuggling situation, possibly more boarder force to help deal with the amount of people crossing and more support for people who are drowning in the ocean to avoid deaths
I'd also like to see more foreign policies directed towards the countries where the migrants are coming from to help improve their life in their home country, decreasing the need to migrate
So the fact you’ve pretty much posted his thoughts verbatim is a coincidence?
I’ll extend my last post. If everyone is having empathy with the sorts of people who were burning down hotels last summer, who is there left to have empathy with people who’ve just escaped a war zone or a famine or have mental health problems because they’re struggling with their own identity?
You claim you like to be informed, and want things to read, so try this, might help your understanding a bit more...More than happy to answer -

Yes - I agree. And in your search for a political home, I would suggest that your answers are not to be found within Reform UK's proposals / manifestos, but are more akin to the sort of things Starmer initially set out. Not so sure wbout his latest pronouncements though.More than happy to answer -

I broadly agree with this also.More than happy to answer -

It's all weasel words, for their own benefit, isn't it...I broadly agree with this also.
This is Reform's Policy on this
Stop the Boats with our 4 Point Plan
1. Leave the European Convention on Human Rights.
2. Zero illegal immigrants to be resettled in the UK.
3. New Department of Immigration.
4. Pick up illegal migrants out of boats and take them back to France
Given that the last one can't be done - https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cyxeedx40d8o
The second one is a bit sus as applying for asylum is not illegal.
The first one require you all to give away a whole load of protection.
I am not sure the third one will make any difference.
They are not offering you any of the requests on your list.
For a party that is hoping to form a government largely based on their immigration policies, they just don't seem to have a clue. It's all weasel words, for their own benefit, isn't it...
If, and it is a big IF, Nigel Farage got into power, he wouldn't achieve any of his aims, and would just blame Europe, judges, Labour and Conservatives. For a party that is hoping to form a government largely based on their immigration policies, they just don't seem to have a clue.
No clear solutions to the problems they perceive and no clear idea of the numbers they think are appropriate for the UK.
I honestly can't see that they are anything more than grifters.
I feel like he has been banging on about needing a "sensible conversation about immigration" for years. What has become obvious though is that he is not taking the chance to lead that conversation.
I wonder why that is.
Which party? Labour? I am not a member. Having quickly looked at the Lib Dem Manifesto - they suggest similar sorts of things actually. You make a fantastic recruitment officer. The party will be pleased
