[Albion] Palace Fans Biggest Fear

Sorry I am late to the party.

I have been away and looked at my phone at 5 on Saturday saw the score and haven’t really thought that much more of it.

Brighton at the moment are a better team it is as simple as that so a lose was not unexpected. What has pissed me off is hearing about fans leaving at HT and those that stayed having a go at the players.

Seeing the pictures of them they look around 15 or 16, so don’t really remember losing 3 nill at home to Scunthorpe and Crewe, so they are just typical premier league fans who think palace should by right beat teams like Brighton. It one of the things that really gets me about self entitled premier league fans ( and not just palace fans)

Gone are the days of watching palace 3 down against Crewe on a foggy Tuesday night and singing about the fog, there was a “ all in it together “ spirit which seemed stronger the shiter we were.

Can't agree more, there are fewer of those you recognise from away games, got lifts from, borrowed a beer or two on the train etc, it seems it's just about the result now and not the absolute joy you get from leaving home looking forward to a day of laughter, beers and seeing your team getting dicked a couple of hundred miles away.

Afterall, we all remember Withdean!

Sorry, I am even later than loz to the party. It was not good on Saturday from what I saw on highlights. Very frustrating for someone who cant get a ticket to see loads leaving at half time, and then loads mixing it with the players at the end. I can only imagine the scenes if the players just walked off instead. We were clearly second best, which is fine as long as you can see some effort and desire from the players, and this is what looked to be lacking on Saturday. Right from Dunk's goal in the first 5 minutes, you could see one team was up for it and one wasnt that bothered.
The olise decision is just unfathomable, given we were 3-0 down at that stage. Roy keeps throwing youngsters on when the game is a losing cause, and then it goes downhill further, and he blames them.
I read on the BBS today that some feel Roy hasnt been the same since he was taken ill before the Villa game. In which case, for his health, he should stand down
Yes, I want Roy out, but I am shocked by the "fans" calling him all sorts of abuse. Show some respect
My only consolation at the moment from Saturday is that 4-1 is not as bad as 5-0 (sorry, I dont have much to cling to)

Good points, Roy's decision was crazy, but what crazier to me is his constant blame on the players, a good manager would use the word "we" far more than "them" or "I".

We played better than OK in the first half. They hardly touched the ball for 45 minutes except to pick it out of the net 3 times. Admittedly we got sloppy in the second-half.
Didn't someone from palarse's message board state they had 19 per cent possession and the reason its so high is they had to get the ball out of the net 4 times during play.

Some oaf on 606 complained the reason Palarse are shit is because of FFP, which means Palarse can't (over)spend on transfers, and this is unfair, although he admitted he is not in possession of the actual facts.

I imagine all clubs have twats like that. I hope none of ours have the entitlement to think they can gob off on national radio about it :shit:

For that to be true, Palace would have to have lost at least towards £105m over the last 3 years, but they're not losing much (if anything) at all are they?

The reason they're shit is because of poor decisions from the top. As an example, keeping Zaha and paying him £130k (or so) a week and then seeing him go for free, rather than getting some cash, and re-investing. They have a poor squad and try and make up for it with a flair player or two.

A lack of investment adds to the problem.

The biggest fear I have, at the moment, is Palace could be seen as an attractive investment for some oil bound state looking to spunk a load of cash into a Premier League team. In reality they only need …. a new playing squad, a complete root and branch change of their systems, processes and club structure, a new stadium, a new coach and back room staff with a touch of reality in their supporters and they are the finished article. 😂😂😂

This. The old SEGW situation shows exactly the difference between our clubs. He was their star and main man, allowed to go for free! in the summer.

Our 2 stars and main men were signed up on new longer term contracts 6 months before they were sold in the summer, maximising our ability to negotiate the best deal for the club.

Sales income for Palace: £0. Sales income for BHA: £150,000,000

They lost about 90m across the 2 Covid seasons and the most recent accounts (21-22) showed a loss of 24m, so although it's not quite Chelsea levels of losses, it's not insignificant, especially with no on-field progression to show for it or signficant infrastructure spend in the background.

Yes that’s exactly it, going to and coming back from football used to be a laugh win, draw or lose, nodding or saying hello to the same bod on the trains up north.

As you say it’s all about the win, win and everyone one is happy lose and it seems nasty, every one is to blame , fingers pointed….dont want to sound old but could it be social media ?

I saw a recent twitter post, claiming the reason we were doing better than them ,was because we had spent £300m more than them since 2017.
He proved this by adding a screenshot from transfermarkt. of our transfer spend compared to them.

I had to point out to him that the same page also showed the transfer revenues and Net Spend.
Which proved that in the same period their net spend was actually £135m more than ours.
The same page also showed that we had increased the size of the squad by 9 in that period and theirs had reduced by 6.

It isn't about the amount of money spent, it's how it's spent .

Yes, I got that bit. It still takes you aback when someone (not in politics) says something so false
This £400m figure that gets tossed around is accepted by so many pundits as proof we are living beyond our means like any other club. No understanding of what Mr Bloom has spent his money on, giving the impression it has all been buying players.

Listening to Simon Jordan gives the impression it's all been without spending a penny
